Seeing Stars - Why Do They Act That Way?

I know it must be difficult to live your life in the public eye, but what is it about the personality of celebrities that makes it so hard for them to live by the same rules as the rest of us?

I think many people who are drawn to being actors and actress, comedians and other performers crave attention. They tend to be insecure individuals in many aspects, but the applause of the audience and constant media attention feed their hunger for attention. Do you really think that Tom Cruise would be happy with his life if his acting and celebrity career would suddenly be done? Have his recent antics been a desperate attempt to keep him in the public eye? I think so. Can you imagine living with that man? Too high maintenance - no way!!

And what about all the actresses who are constantly starving themselves? Someone needs to step in and let these girls know that they are fine just the way they are! But I do think there is something about their personalities - the same thing that makes them good performers also makes them do stupid things.

In my opinion, divas in any arena of life tend to be so amazingly good at what they do that other vital areas of their lives are never developed - like common sense (think - Einstein).  You find this with elite athletes, geniuses, musicians and actors.

What do you think? Is it just their personality or am I missing the boat on this one?  And in the meantime, if you need some more celebrity antics to keep you amused, check out CelebAmour - she’s got it all there.

Great Find - Designher Gals

DesignherGals.comIn my web travels last week, I came upon one of those sites that you just can’t help but share with your friends! It is called Designher Gals. It is kind of like playing dress up but is also one of the coolest, unique gift ideas I have seen this year, and its proceeds are used to raise money for the Gal to Gal Foundation.

At Designher Gals you create your own gal - a child, teen/young adult, grown up, or mommy with a bump. You pick her features such as hair color and style, eye color, skin color and such. You also choose her clothes, accessories and “attitude”. Once you have created your gal, you can send her as an e-Card for free or turn her into personalized stationery, stickers, t-shirts, invitations and other gifts that look like you or your friends.

Go check it out! But make sure you have a block of time set aside, because once you start playing and creating your gal pals, it is hard to stop!

Why All The Fuss About PS3?

Okay, someone please correct me if I am wrong, but is the new PS3 really worth $599? Is it worth waiting in long lines, late at night just to get one? Is it worth being robbed or shot? I just don’t get it!!!

We have lots of technology in this house - our kids each have their own computer, we have PS2 and we have other gadgets too, but $599 for a video game system is nuts.

Okay, I’m done venting….

Confessions of a Work At Home Mom

Eve’s Confessions of an Everyday Housewife is hosting one of the blog carnivals for the MomGadget forum this week and has challenged us all to confess.

Being a work at home mom is not always an easy task, but it’s also not one I’d give up either! So here are a few of my confessions for the week:

  • I am more concerned about cleaning up comment spam than I am about cleaning up after the kids.
  • Blogging is better than baking.
  • Designing web sites is best done in jammies and with a cup of coffee in hand.
  • Doing laundry and taking a conference call can be done simultaneously.
  • I would rather participate in Liz’s Open Mic night than watch TV on a Tuesday night.
  • Just because I am home all day does not mean I had time to cook a meal.

The list could go on, because honestly, I did not get the domestication gene. So confess and join our carnival - just be sure to let Eve know.

What’s Cooking in the Blogosphere Tonight?

Somehow I have stumbled upon a few blogs that normally don’t showcase recipes, but have included some recently. I am guessing that some of us in the blogosphere are a bit hungry. Some of these look pretty good, so I figured I would share them with you:

Do you have any recipes to share? I love soup and am always looking for new soup recipes. Share with me please.
