When it comes to decorating your kids’ rooms, what is your style? Let them paint the walls and decorate according to their own taste or are you partial to white walls?
I was reading about the Princess Room at PlayLibrary.com and decided to share some pictures of my 8 year old daughter’s room, too.
It’s just paint. It’s just paint. These are the words I kept repeating over and over in my head as I rolled the first strip of deep magenta on my daughter’s wall. It was so bright and took about three coats of paint to really look good. I kept asking myself what I was getting into.
The next wall got painted purple. And the two end walls - they were a silvery blue. When I started the project, I could not imagine how awesome it would turn out. We pulled her wild paint scheme together with the Betsy wallpaper border and accessories from Bombay Kids (like the .
Needless to say - this room ROCKS and will grow with her nicely through her teens.

I’d like to thank Laura at I’m an Organizing Junkie for making Menu Plan Monday habit-forming! If you haven’t started this practice yet, you need to - your family will thank you.
I started by getting everyone in the family to name their favorite meal from each of 4 categories; pasta, quick and easy, chicken, and favorites. From there I was able to create a pretty good base list and as I find new recipes or have a request from one of them I add the item to my big list.
Here is this week’s menu:
- Monday: Tomato soup with grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches
- Tuesday: Out as always
- Wednesday: Chicken and broccoli alfredo
- Thursday: Baked chicken, roasted potatoes with peas
- Friday: Spaghetti and meatballs with salad

It is mid-January and we finally got our first snow of the season. The kids are already anticipating a snow day tomorrow and I am hoping for a mere two-hour delay. It is still snowing, but I really doubt we’ll get more than and inch or two. Our school district is pretty wimpy, so chances are, school will be canceled.
I took a picture looking out our back door. I know many of you will laugh - it’s not much, but the kids think it’s wonderful.
