Links for the Weekend

beachumbrella.jpgI’m out of here in a few minutes - we are off to our state competition - but I thought I would leave you all with some weekend reading. These are a few of my favorites from the week:

Casual Fridays

Casual FridaysAfter a discussion with my blogging pal Gayla this week, I have decided to tweak the focus of this blog. Don’t worry, you probably won’t even notice! While my first blog, Essential Keystrokes, is focused on Web design, marketing, blogging and other techie stuff, this one has developed into a giant mixing bowl of randomness.

Looking back through my archives, it is obvious to me that my most commented on posts are ones that deal with the work/life balance. After all, isn’t that what most of us are always aiming for - that perfect balance between career, family, and personal happiness?

I am going to try to stay more focused in my posting. Afterall, I would like this site to be a place where you, the reader, come to learn from me and share your experiences, too, so we can learn from you, too.

And what about Casual Fridays? I’d like to open Fridays up to a larger conversation. Bring your cup of coffee and let’s talk. Bring a story, a tip, a link, a question, a joke - whatever you want to talk about. It’ll be a bit like Liz’s Open Comment Night, but at a much more leisurely pace. Stop in anytime!

Carnival of Family Life

circusMike of Be A Good Dad was the gracious host of the Mother’s Day edition of the Carnival of Family Life this week. He did a great job and there were so many fun entries.

Some of my favorites include:

ispf presents 5 Gifts for Mom That Won’t Ever Go Out of Fashion posted at Grad Money Matters.

Mommy the Maid presents I busted a Mother’s Day Surprise posted at Ramblings from the not-so typical Stay at Home Mom.

Karen Lynch presents Mommies, Moms, Grandmas and the Circle of Life posted at Live The Power.

Mike gets to host it again this week so if you are interested in participating join in!

Menu Plan Monday - May 14

monday menu

I am moving slowly after my full day of gardening yesterday, but it is a good slow! This looks like a pretty easy week and I think that is just what we all need.

  • Monday - Create Your Own Pasta night - I will cook up angel hair pasta and then the crew can choose how to top it - marinara only or meatballs too. I will have pesto and feta cheese on mine.
  • Tuesday - Taco Cups and refried beans. These are super easy. Lightly grease large muffin cups and press medium sized tortillas in the shape of the muffin cups. Place in oven on 350 for about 7 minutes until crisp. Fill cups with meat, cheese, lettuce, tomato and other taco toppings.
  • Wednesday - BLTs and soup
  • Thursday - Grilled chicken, steamed new potatoes, green beans.
  • Friday - Homemade baked macaroni and cheese with salad.
