We had a surprise birthday party for my husband last night and it was so much fun! We all stayed up way too late and had to get up too early this morning. The guys went to play golf and I have some stuff I need to take care of too. The first thing I did when I got up was make a cup of coffee - gotta start your day somehow!
Anyhow, while drinking my wonderful cup of java, I found this fun quiz called “How Addicted to Coffee Are You?”

All I can say is that it has been a crazy week and I am really looking forward to it being over. Before I can really relax, I have to finish getting ready for a little get together we are hosting tonight (for my husband’s birthday) and we have a large 4th of July party at my parent’s farm to help host on Sunday. I will be cooking and cleaning like a mad woman today, but don’t worry, I’ll be rewarding myself with some time here throughout the day.

This week has been super busy and it is only Tuesday! Fortunately for me, some of my favorite blogs have been touching on some of the challenges I am facing as I navigate through this summer trying to balance growing my business while working from home with spending plenty of quality time with my kids.

Want to be successful? Learn to manage expectations. Randa Clay has reminded me of a very important business strategy - managing client expectations. I can’t think of a more important business princple than this during summer. Apart from the time constraints of having kids home, there are things like summer vacation (for you and your client), holidays, and the generally slower pace of business in the summer.
What you want may be different than what you will settle for. Is Wendy talking to me? Uh, maybe! Balancing a successful business with being a successful Mom is a constant push and pull scenario. Wendy reminds us to take stock of our goals and the goals of those around us and to make sure that we are not just settling because it is the most comfortable route at the time.
