Happy Friday! While I’d really rather be in bed this morning, I have made myself a great cup of coffee (Newman’s Own Organics Extra Bold Special Blend) and am determined to make it a great day no matter what.
Back in June I did a big post on where the Moms are online. Now, I know that the Internet is a mighty dynamic place and that the list is far from comprehensive, so I have been working on an update post. I thought it would be fun to get your input, since there is no way I have seen them all.
What are your favorite web sites for Moms (or women in general)? I am looking for social sites (like Sk*rt), community sites (like Maya’s Mom), or individual blogs? Where do you go for advice, support, socialization, networking, the latest trends and laughs.
Bring me a link today!! (If you bring too many at a time your comment will go into moderation.) And, as always, tell me about your week, your plans for the weekend, and anything else you want to discuss. It is Friday, you know!

Now, I know this is nothing like the snow that New England got last week or my dear friends in Chicagoland get frequently, but it is the first real snow we have gotten all season. The kids were so bummed because it had not started snowing when they left for school. They really wanted a snow day and I was even okay with it, too.

The snow coming down hard as I look out my front door - it has only been snowing for about 30 minutes.

And looking out on to the back yard and the kids’ swingset. No huge accumulation yet but it is coming down.
I wonder if they will release school early? With this area, you just never know!
Hot chocolate anyone?Â

I know some people hate Mondays or find it difficult to get moving, but personally, I love Mondays! After a busy weekend with the family, there was no motivation required for me to get started. As soon as I got the kids off to school I couldn’t wait to sit down with my coffee and notebook and log my plan of action for today.
Now it is 1:30 in the afternoon and I am very happy with what I have accomplished so far - including a few loads of laundry, three posts, some client work, and I even had a healthy breakfast and lunch. Granted, I still have plenty to do, but there’s time.
So who else is talking about Mondays? Why not check out these posts for inspiration:
T.G.I. Monday!! Have a great day!

Happy Friday! For the past few weeks I have seen previews for the new movie starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman called The Bucket List. The previews look really good. The movie is about two men from different backgrounds who find themselves sharing a hospital room. They also share the desire to life the remainder of their lives to the fullest and come up with a “bucket list” - a list of things they want to accomplish before they “kick the bucket”.
Have you ever taken the time to sit down and make your own bucket list? I know some people keep a running list, but others like me are just taking things one day at a time really. Now that I have seen the previews (and hope to see the movie eventually), it has got me thinking a bit about what I really want to do. Here are a few of the items I am going to put on my list:
- Attend the Olympics (not as a coach or participant, but as a spectator)
- Get my Elite rating as a gymnastics judge (will start working on this seriously once my kids are in college)
- Take ballroom dance lessons
- Sell one of my websites for a large sum of money (one can dream right?)
- Buy a house in a quaint seaside town where I can walk to everything I need
Liz at Successful Blog, has posted her Bucket List for 2008 as part of a blogging meme that is going around, so obviously, this movie has got quite a few people thinking now!
For Casual Friday, I want to know what’s on your bucket list - it can be long term or short term, practical or as adventurous as you wish!! And of course, you can feel free to talk about anything else too. Come join us!!

I am not a risk taker. I am not an attention seeker. I am not comfortable in front of a camera - still or video.
So when a long time client called and asked to interview me for a video piece she was doing, I was reluctant to agree. But then I thought for a moment. It is hard for me to recommend video as part of a new media strategy if I am not willing to give it a go myself. Plus, she is such a good person, I’d have a hard time saying no anyhow.
I have spent the past few days stressing about what to wear, how to do my hair, would I know what to say, would I sound goofy - you know - all the normal stuff. My husband even made a remark that he couldn’t believe I was going to do it because I don’t even like having my picture taken.
When I arrived at Sue’s office this morning, her video course instructor, Tina, was there and she immediately made me feel at ease.
For the next hour we worked on getting the lighting right, setting up at the right angle, practicing my lines, and shooting take after take. Sue was learning to use her video set up so she can take it to conferences and client events and Tina was giving both of us great tips along the way.
Originally I didn’t want to see the clip, but after 4 or 5 takes and hearing the two of them say how good it looked, I just had to see it. And you know what - it looked really good.
I was amazed at how much I learned in that hour and how amazingly empowered I felt afterwards! Stepping out of your comfort zone is definitely a good exercise.
What is something you are afraid of? I challenge you to take a step out of your own comfort zone and try something new - and soon!
PS - yes, I will share the video clip with you all - once it is ready and available for public viewing.
