Happy Leap Day Friday! Wow! Today only comes once every four years, so I am officially deeming today as a bonus day.
Let’s just say, that your fairy godmother granted you a totally free day today - no work, no family commitments, no appointments and no limits. What would you do? Oh, and money is no object. But you have to back by midnight…
How would you spend your day?

TLC debuts a new reality show next week, The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom, that takes a stay at home mom and gives her the opportunity to pursue the career she left behind for one week. After watching the trailer of the show, I am left with a great deal of skepticism.
First of all, I really don’t like the idea that the show uses deception as part of its premise. The Moms “go to the spa” while the husbands care for the kids during their week away. I would think if you are paying people to be on the show, you might as well tell the family in advance so that the kids are not so traumatized and the family trust is not compromised. I am sure that because it is TV, this is just the drama they want to stir up.
Second of all, do we really need another piece of the media fueling the debate on stay at home moms vs working moms? Hello, whether you choose to be a stay at home mom, work from home mom, or a mom with a job outside of the home is YOUR decision. What ever works for you is good.
I also don’t like the tag line of “Do they have what it takes to have it ALL?” The connotation is that unless you are a career woman and a mom, you are failing in some aspect of your life. That is a bunch of bunk.
TLC is one of my favorite networks and home to shows that I think really empower us as individuals, like What Not to Wear, Trading Spaces, Take Home Chef and such, but The Secret Life of a Soccer Mom just doesn’t seem to have the same sense of empowerment. I guess I’ll have to watch an entire episode before I can really judge it, but I’m not holding out much hope.
I’d love to hear your take on this show. Do you think it will be good? Or is it just a grasp for straws from an over saturated TV environment?

Another Monday sits here staring me in the face asking the money question of the day - “What are you going to accomplish today?” Luckily I am prepared with a response! “I am going to divide and conquer.”
Anytime I am faced with a huge to-do list or a very big project I tend to get overwhelmed and that often leads to procrastination - I just don’t know where to start. Over the years I have learned to divide these big tasks into smaller tasks, making them more manageable and the results more measurable.
Today:
- Write out post ideas for week
- Work on case study post for Essential Keystrokes
- Go through inbox and prioritize maintenance tasks
- Do time sensitive site updates for clients
This Week:
How about you? What are your goals for today or the week? I have found that making my plan and holding myself accountable for it is the best way to start off my week. Join Wendy at eMoms at Home, WAH(web)Mommy, From the Park Bench and me by posting your own Monday Motivation post.

Happy Friday! Our kids are getting their first “snow” day of the year and it isn’t even snowing! It should really be called an “ice” day, because that is what we are getting.
I know for many of you the snow days have been too plentiful, too frequent and you are just ready for some spring weather. Me, I would just love one big, white, fluffy snow storm this year - enough to snow us in for 2 days and then winter is free to leave.
How has your winter been? Lots of snow days or just a few? Do you have cabin fever yet? And anything else you have to say about the weather. Of course, feel free to talk about anything really - after all this is Casual Friday. How about the Oscar’s this weekend? I haven’t even heard of half the movies! And the political debates - is it November yet?
Also, be sure to stop back in over the weekend because I will be posting a few new giveaways.
Thanks to HomeMom3, Gayla, Brian, Randa, Chris, Katelyn, Lisa-Marie, Pickel, LA Blogger Girl, and Rose for talking chocolate with us last week.
Join the conversation! Everyone is welcome.
