It’s Friday again and we are taking it easy today! Won’t you join us? There are no real rules, just leave a comment to join the conversation – it’s that easy. We can talk about anything you want. Ask a few questions, tell a story, share a tip – your choice. It’ll be a bit like Liz’s Open Comment Night, but at a much more leisurely pace. Stop in anytime – I’ll be checking in from time to time as well.
Last week’s Casual Friday was a lot of fun – there were 44 comments! Thanks to Yvonne, Eliza, AgentSully, Laura, Ariane, Denise, Kendra, Matthew, Gayla, Sheri, and Jane.

Oooh I get to be the first one today.
Hope your friday is spectacular, not sure how mine will be today. Today is the first day of summer break…ya’d think they’d sleep in … they were all up before 7 a.m. Soooo not fair.
Movies? Yes, I have thank you for asking. Ghost Rider and it was really good. A fast movie though, I wanted to watch something else but have now seen everything but Breach in the little DVD machine at the gas station.
Oh sad news…sounds like they’ve found that missing girl that Ang had on her site.
Katelyn wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 8:33 am
School’s out! Yippee! I can do things in the morning instead of rushing around like a maniac. Anyway, I missed last week, but I’m here for at least part of the day today.
I’m personally kind of fathered out already with all the posts I’ve been doing, but any fun Father’s Day plans this weekend?
Yeah, I’m second. Dear gussy I feel like I’ve been away for DAYS. It’s been one of those times where every client I have (all 5 of them) had something urgent they needed done. Even my SD commented yesterday — That looks BORing, when I was updating the one site LOL
Two more little projects to go and I am FREE.
Ok, Movies, I saw Norbit the other day. The Eddie Murphy movie? Seriously, it’s time for him to retire. I can’t stress enough, how much this movie Sucked!
Got gas yesterday for $3.09 so that’s a good thing from the $3.49 of a couple’a weeks ago.
I’ve not seen the updates on the missing girl. Will have to look.
How’s everyone else this Friday?
Laura wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 8:49 am
Movies, that’s a good topic. The new Nancy Drew movie is coming out today. My kids want to go. Is anyone else going?
Well, I think I’ll have a slice of coffee cake and head back off to work.
Nice visiting with you guys!
Homemom3 wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 9:17 am
Gayla- Two things, first thanks for the comment on Norbit they have that there but I’ve been holding off waiting for reviews. In the end I may watch it just to write a review but not sure yet. The girl….they got a tip off (letter) with a detailed map showing where the girl is supposibly buried. Very sad. No they haven’t discovered a body but still.
Laura- I forgot that was coming out…I want to see it. Loved the books growing up.
Yay! I love Casual Friday! I am just popping in before the day-camp run and the day begins. This is the end of Week #3 (of 11) for us already on Summer Break. Sometimes I think I may be too old for Camp Mommy!
We saw Ghost Rider last night. It was a little intense. We saw Shrek 3 when it came out, but haven’t managed to get to Pirates or Surf’s Up, and then 9yo Daughter and I are excited about Nancy Drew.
Here’s two things I am thinking about at the moment:
1) There is an article in PEOPLE Magazine this week called “Big Love” – “With 16 kids — and one on the way — Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar leave family planning to a higher power.” Oh.My.God. The mother is 40, Dad 41 — I can’t even imagine! (And just the thought of one more child, to my three, makes me shudder!)
2) I recently subscribed to MORE Magazine, because I’m almost 40 (gasp!), and I am kind of ambivalent about it — MORE is for old chicks, right?! Anyway, I have been reading a really interesting article about going back to work (outside the home) after taking time off. I have a new book to review about that very subject. It’s certainly very enticing to think about, every once in a while, when everything and everyone is going nuts around here…
Gotta run!
Sherri
Oh P.S., as far as going “back” to work (outside the home)…the assumption is these women all seem to have something high-power to go back to, working off their former experience and careers. I haven’t exactly figured out what’s the what if you don’t have anything to go “back” to — I pretty-much hated my career position and I suspect I may have become completely unemployable over the last 13 years!!!
Happy Friday everyone! I’m going to have happy Fridays all summer because I have a “mommy’s helper” teenager here on Friday mornings. She likes to be outside, and my son (23 mo) would stay outside all day if I would let him, so it’s a perfect combination! I am not an outside kinda girl myself, esp. when it is HOT!
Sherri – I know several people with large families and really once you get several older ones, you’ve got lots of help, so having another one is no big deal I guess. Would be sorta fun to be in such a big family… maybe.
Come check out my latest WordPress theme I just released today!

hi everyone! I am checking in from the road right now – from my Treo phone. How cool is that?
My girls want to see Nancy Drew but my son is counting down the days to the Transformers movie.
Keep the conversation going – I’ll check back in a while.
Katelyn wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 9:56 am
I want to see Nancy Drew, too. I’m trying to convince my nephew that she’s cool…
Homemom3 wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 11:04 am
Did you know there will be a Simpsons movie too?
Char wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 11:30 am
We just paid $2.74 for gas here. Bad news is my SUV drinks a lot of it.
I need to make a salad of some sort for a cookout tonight. Does anyone have any good, easy recipes they recommend?
Homemom3 wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 12:46 pm
potato salad? Egg salad? Both are simple. Our van sucks up gas too.
Denise wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 12:48 pm
Just stopping by to say hi on Casual Friday and to wish all my fellow bloggers a great weekend! And Happy Father’s Day to all the dads out there.
Oh, wait. A salad recipe, huh? Let’s see…three bean salad? That’s always a hit. But if you want to take something different my grandma used to make this wilted spinach salad that was to die for. Just buy however many packages of fresh spinach you think you’ll need, fry a half a pound of bacon per package of spinach, boil three eggs per package. Then crumble the fried bacon and the chopped boiled eggs on top of the spinach. Make a hot oil and vinegar dressing with whatever spices you like and pour over the mixture and toss. Mmmhh, mmmhh, good!
Hey all! Happy Friday to everyone! It’s finally a gorgeous day here today after a few cold and windy days, so I’m just basking in it!
Have a great weekend!

thanks again for the link
simpsons movie should be good i think
Char wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
homemom – what kind of van do you have?
Denise – that recipe sounds yummy. I could live off salads in the summer.
pinks and blues – it is cool and overcast here but its kind of nice.
Char wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 1:04 pm
hey Matthew – you snuck in between comments. How has your week been?
finally got my post done. Now I have to start planning for our move next week. Ugh, I hate moving!
Homemom3 wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 4:12 pm
actually not a van it’s a Chevrolet Uplander.
Oh since we are all talking about salads does anyone know what this one is called…. it has apple slices, walnuts, something white (can’t remember if it is cream cheese or mayo) graphes, marshmallows, etc. I had this as a kid and would love it again but no one knows of this salad. Please help.
AgentSully- ikk moving is NEVER fun. Where ya moving too?
Matthew- loved them growing up, I think they’ll be great as a movie. Another one coming is …. I think it’s called Vultron. Can’t recall but it had the catlike guy with those long claws, he was orange. lol.
Char wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 4:31 pm
Homemom – I think that is called Waldorf salad.
I ended up getting strawberries, blueberries and raspberries, pastry shells and whipped cream – these will make a yummy dessert.
I drive an Excursion – it is way too big, but for a busy family with three kids and always a friend or two, it really is great. Plus my son’s hockey equipment takes up a ton of room. When I am not hauling the crew, I like to drive my husband’s 2006 Honda Accord.
Yeah, moving is stressful. It’s a temporary move so I don’t have to take all my stuff thank goodness. I need to put together some advice for myself! Anyone have any moving or packing tips?
Dana wrote @ June 15th, 2007 at 10:32 pm
Well, I have a new template (again). I think I’ve firmly decided it is what I want. I just have to put all my links back.
Have a great weekend!

I think your site is great!
Keep in touch!!!
Char wrote @ June 16th, 2007 at 9:21 am
Dana – I love the new template!
Kris – So glad you stopped in! I can’t wait to see the work you did for Conde’ Nast. Please send it to me soon.
Homemom3 wrote @ June 17th, 2007 at 8:31 am
went to see Spiderman 3 and Bridge to Terabithia. Loved the Bridge but was a bit disappointed with S3, beginning was great but the ending just wasn’t there. Seemed very long as well but could’ve been because we’d just seen the other movie.
Also rented Little Children & The Secret Life of Words.
Char wrote @ June 17th, 2007 at 8:45 am
Homemom3 – you are a movie going Mommy! I can’t watch that many movies – I just don’t have the attention span. I am thinking of taking the kids to Nancy Drew, Surfs Up or Ratatouille this week – we’ll see.
