Casual Friday Giveaway - Chocolate and Snowglobes

Ferrero Rondnoir

UPDATE: The winners of the chocolate giveaway are comment #37 (Sheila), #123 (Alice) and #277 (Erika).

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving! To kick off the holiday season, I have a very yummy giveaway today. Ferrero, the company that brings us the very delicious Ferrero Rocher chocolates, has created a dark chocolate version just in time for holiday parties and gift giving.

Ferrero Rondnoir dark chocolates, features a dark chocolate cream surrounding a crisp wafer and topped with crunchy dark chocolate morsels. Ferrero sent us some to sample and I can not even begin to tell you how good they were!!

In addition to debuting their new chocolate this season, The Ferrero Company is getting in the spirit by partnering with Share Our Strength®, one of the nation’s leading organizations working to end childhood hunger in America.

FerreroThey have created a new site called Share Something Sweet which allows you to send interactive, virtual electronic snow
globes to friends and family that can be customized by uploading photographs as well as personal messages. As part of its commitment to SOS, Ferrero is donating $20,000 to the charity. You can join us in supporting this cause by sending a personalized e-card snow globe and spreading the word. You can upload your own photos they are super cute. The site also features tips from Food Network chef Michael Chiarello.

Ferrero has sent me three 12 count boxes of Rondnoir to give away to my fabulous readers - so that means this week we will have three winners instead of one. And, I have decided that the giveaways will go from Friday to Thursday from here out. You have until midnight Thursday, November 29 to enter.

All you have to do to enter this giveaway is leave a comment. This week we are talking about the holidays. Did you have a good Thanksgiving? With today being Black Friday, how much shopping are you doing today? Are you doing most of your shopping online or will you brave the stores?

We had a small and quiet Thanksgiving. I won’t be hitting any of the stores for Black Friday today but I will be shopping on-line.
This is a wondefully delicious contest ~ please enter me.

I don’t really shop on Black Friday, but my Thanksgiving was pretty decent. :)

Oh happy day! This time yesterday I’d begun cooking and didn’t stop until everything was done and cleaned around 3:30. Nine hours in the kitchen lead me right to a two hour nap when I was done. I’m so glad it’s over!

No shopping for me today. I’ve got one more purchase to make and then I’m totally done shopping. I am so glad it’s done early this year. *sighs*

Hope you all had a great holiday!

  homemom3 wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 7:27 am

We drove up to Virigina yesterday for a family gathering and came back. Got lost on the way home too, thankfully I was asleep and had no clue. lol. Today I will NOT be driving…except to pick up moving van but then straight home. Since I’m not shopping I refuse to drive. However I will be doing cyber monday. :) Will you? Oh the chocolates look yummy and the day before my bday.

Gayla- done shopping? WOW! Haven’t even began. :(

  bebemiqui wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 10:28 am

I braved the store and hit Target at 5am this morning (not realizing it didn’t open until 6am). The kids and hubby are covered for gifts as of today.

  Char wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 11:05 am

Good morning everyone! Good thing I used the future post option because I just got up! My brother and his wife took our kids for the weekend and my husband and I are getting ready to go away for the rest of the weekend. I’d love to get some of my shopping in while we are gone.

I am configuring my new air card on my laptop so I can sneak in a little work while we are gone and to chat with you all, too.

bebemiqui - how was Target? Was it busy?

HomeMom3 -sorry you got lost - but glad you made it back in one piece.

Gayla, you are just too organized!

I love both chocolate and snow globes.

(No shopping for us.)

  lornadoone wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 3:19 pm

First of all, this pregnant lady wants to win the chocolate!

Secondly, our holiday was great. My husband cooked a gourmet dinner over the course of two days, and I’m so proud of him.

Finally, the only real shopping I had in mind for today was picking up some LED Christmas lights so we can put our tree up tonight.

I had a nice Thanksgiving. It was loud but nice to have everyone over. My favorite part of Thanksgiving is stuffing. I love to eat stuffing and this is the only time of year I get it.

I did not go shopping for Black Friday. I went once, last year and did not enjoy it. I might try it another time if there is something I must have.

  Hedi wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 8:45 pm

I didnt celebrate Thanksgiving, beacause in our country it is not national holiday.

  Denise wrote @ November 23rd, 2007 at 10:37 pm

Yummy, yummy for my tummy, tummy!

I want that chocolate! lol

Thanksgiving was spent alone. I cooked a pot of beans with ham and read a book all day. It wasn’t half bad, just too damn quiet.

And no, I would never hazard shopping on the day after. :(

Ooooh! I live for chocolate! :D

LOL. We had a great Thanksgiving - I hope you did too! We did not brave the stores yesteday. Instead we hung out with family. It was a really great 2 day break - truly just fun and family. :)

I do most of my shopping online. We will brave the stores, but not this weekend ;) - I’m hoping to find some Cyber Monday deals coming up, but I hear they are not as big as Black Friday deals. I just couldn’t see getting up soooo early and dealing with those kinds of crowds. We had a much better day than we would have had shopping. :)

  Laura K wrote @ November 24th, 2007 at 9:52 am

Please count me in for the chocolate!! I went yesterday to a friend to help her pack up odds n ends because she’s moving tomorrow. I will go to downtown Chicago this whole day and wrap at Borders. The money people donate will help a food pantry provide Christmas gifts to needy children. I feel I have gotten in the “spirit” of Christmas and don’t have as much to give monetarily lately. I am giving the gift of myself, and find myself very happy. Enjoy your holidays everybody!!

  Babatjie wrote @ November 24th, 2007 at 10:39 am

I saw the lines of people who had been up all night in the cold waiting for stores to open, I saw them swarming the sidewalks, and I was thankful for my habit of buying Christmas presents all year long, because I am DONE and don’t have to deal with the shopping frenzy in the streets. Mmm… dark chocolate Ferrero sounds great, especially if it arrives by mail.

My holiday was pleasant and the weather was like Spring which was great for the Macy’s day parade that I always watch on TV. My mom and I always call each other to see how Santa looked and make sure he had his cherry cheeks and plumb body and they always measure up and now since the parade is over and Santa arrived in NY to start off the Christmas holiday the air is crisp and cold now and hopefully we get some snow to top it off. I did go out Black Friday but just to get a few items at one store that mailed me some coupons. I generally shop online because it is convenient and I love that it is shipped directly to friends and family and can always be tracked. I generally get gift cards so I definitely do it online or if I really get into the spirit and hustle and bustle I go to the store. Wishing everyone a blessed holiday season. God Bless ^A^ Be safe. :-)

We live in a very small area and we went to Wal-Mart at 9am. THey still had everything we wanted with no crowds. Loved it. I am completely done with my Christmas shopping now. I did some online and some in stores.

Thanksgiving was lovely. When you work all the time, it’s just so much fun to spend to spend a whole day cooking. And then live on the leftovers for a few days afterwards. What would I do without the food channel and their new ‘thanksgiving leftever recipes’-yumm. I didnt shop on Black Friday-I really am not crazy about out of control crowds. My daughter works at a jewelry store at the Mall and she started work at 4am. She told me the mall was packed at 4AM. I used to be a marathon shopper but no more. I love internet shopping. Im famous for shopping at midnight in my own home in my PJ’s. Have a nice holiday all.

Night before going to store I did the “checking of the list” to see what items I needed….then went through the sales throw-outs from the paper….went in as soon as the stores pened and I was through within an hour…..what a relief.

I had a wonderful thanksgiving with my daughters and their families. The only dark spot in the day was that my son who is in the army, couldn’t be there. I never shop on the day after thanksgiving. The stores are a madhouse then and I prefer to wait until they settle back down.

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I cooked dinner for my family and my Mother and Father and later my brother and his family came for dessert. I know better than to brave the stores on Black Friday, so both hubby and I just went for a ride with our kids and passed our local malls, just to see how bad they were. So glad we got our Christmas shopping done already! No crazies mall shopping for us!
Thanks for the delightful contest.

I had my Thanksgiving at my Brothers house. Almost everyone was there! After the food, I never eat that much, we played Apples to Apples and all the while I had been taking pictures to share with my class. The Apple Pie was wonderful. The next day I did not go shopping because Zoloft takes away my motivation. Stupid medication, if only I didn’t need it. Anyway, I have never had that kind of chocolate, is it any better then the round candies you find in stores? I have a scale I weight ‘extra’ unneeded foods on. I call it the worth it scale. How much I enjoy it, vs how bad it is for me. Oh you’ve made me want to have chocolate so much. Anyway, what I have run into is that cost and taste do not always go together. Sometimes the simplest things are the best.

Thanksgiving was very quiet (except for trying to make certain the Great Danes didn’t get the turkey!). As for Black Friday, I hate to shop, so they would have to pay ME to go out that day! In addition, my daughter is manager of a store in Long Beach, and she dreads the day. Had to be at the store at 3am for them to open at 5. When I spoke with her last Monday, she said she planned to sleep all day Thursday! Haven’t talked to her yet to see how it went–usually just get her voice mail anyway since she works horrible hours!

I did not purchase one thing on Black Friday! Actually, I did buy a gallon of milk, but did not have to stand in line at 4:00 a.m. to get it. :-)

Annoying story for Black Friday…my friend said that she arrived at Walmart at 4:30 A.M(!) to buy a Cricut diecut machine because they were on sale for $119. Great deal…they are usually over $180 and never go on sale!….

On Saturday afternoon at around 3:00 p.m. (almost 36 hours later) I was in Walmart for shampoo and a new toaster. We walked past the aisle with the Cricut machines…and they were STILL $119 and the shelf was full of them! I didn’t have the heart to tell my friend.

Well, I absolutely LOVE dark chocolate and it absolutely LOVES my hips. So if I get chosen to win a box, on behalf of my hips…we would be VERY happy!

I would have loved to shop this Black Friday, but dh was out of work for a couple months this year so we have to catch up on finances until December 21st. Next year though! And a box of chocolates would make up for not shopping this year (hint hint).

Thanksgiving was great. We ate all the usual items. On Black Friday, we went out to a few stores, but not until 11:00 am or so. I plan on doing most of my shopping in-store.

What a wonderful Thanksgiving we had with the whole family and all the inlaws. I don’t shop Black Friday because much of my Christmas shopping is done during the year. I would love to share this heavenly chocolate with my children.

It was a pleasant Thanksgiving this year. I make a point to NOT go shopping on Black Friday; we instead prepped the yard and garage for winter. I expect to be nearly evenly split between online and in-store shopping this year.

Since I work two jobs - 70 hours a week - I don’t have time to shop in stores so most if not all of my Christmas shopping will be done online.

We had a wonderful Turkey Day but my mom cooked the Turkey to long and it blew up in the roaster so it was kind of dry, I didnt say nothing about it being dry, I just poured some gravy over my slice and chowed down.

  Dustan wrote @ November 27th, 2007 at 11:47 pm

Thanksgiving sucked. My aunt was supposed to bring the turkey, but she woke up late. Rather than just wait until the turkey was fully cooked, she didn’t want to be late, so it came in half cooked. The breast was ok, but the dark meat was still pink. The skin was still rubbery, for God’s sake! Worst Thanksgiving ever!

I’d love to win the chocolates to get the awful taste of raw turkey flesh out of my system.

Thanksgiving was the most relaxing in years. We spent it with friends instead of family! Instead of hitting the stores, I am looking to buy experiences. I am giving spa treatments, bay cruises, wine of the month memberships etc. Might be less fun to open but more fun to experience!

  Mary-Eileen Venturella wrote @ November 28th, 2007 at 2:37 pm

I stay away from the stores altogether at this time of year as it is much too crowded and competitve. This is what the internet is best for–quiet, peaceful shopping.

  Cassandra wrote @ November 28th, 2007 at 2:54 pm

Thanksgiving was great–lots of food and lots of rest. Black Friday–we avoided it like the plague. I already had most of my shopping done anyway via internet orders–much easier and more convenient.

  Roz wrote @ November 28th, 2007 at 8:59 pm

Thanksgiving is my very favorite holiday. It’s the time when family and friends can get together with no thought of gifts or religious affiliation. I make a big meal and it’s open house. A lot of work, days recuperating, but I wouldn’t give it up for anything.

I had the most wonderful Thanksgiving I have ever had and I really believed it would be my worst. Our daughter is stationed in Afghanistan with the Army and everyday has been so hard. I really dreaded Thanksgiving most of all as it was always her favorite holiday of the year. She would wake up early in the morning and wake me up saying “mom, mom it’s turkey day!!” This Thanksgiving would be the first without her and how I dreaded the day. I was in the kitchen half-heartedly making the turkey when someone came behind me saying “hey, mom why the sad face, it’s turkey day!” She had been granted a two week leave and wanted to surprise me. She had called her brother from the airport to pick her up and they quietly had come into the house. I cried, hugged her and said a silent thank you. It was the best Thanksgiving I could ever ask for!

We decided at the last minute (of course) that we, being me and my husband as we have no family or children, would run out to the grocery store and buy a pre-cooked turkey dinner so that we didn’t feel cheated out of our thanksgiving day feast. Needless to say, I’ve had much better as far as that goes, but we were just as happy as we could be because as we toasted each other with our glass of wine we realized that it wasn’t the meal at all that we were thankful for…it was each other and the fact that we were alive, healthy, and had a roof over our heads and food for our bellies. It was one of the best thanksgivings we had ever had and we thanked God for it!

  Laurie wrote @ November 28th, 2007 at 11:44 pm

Kandess Nantz wrote @ November 28th, 2007 at 11:56 pm

My Thanksgiving was wonderful even if I did have to work. However, I was able to get 3 really good movies for cheap prices on black friday since a friend of mine was shopping blitz at Walmart. I work there so i didn’t want to try and shop it and then work 9 hours at the end of that day. I’ll be store shopping mostly, just to avoid late shipments and things like that.

Im a chocolate lover. Hope I win.

I have a part-time job (been looking for full-time for many months) so I worked all night on Thursday as I need as many hours as I can get. I worked from 3PM Thursday to 6AM Friday Morning. I was really tired on Friday so I didn’t shop (I also don’t have any money for gifts this year). Otherwise, it was a normal Thanksgiving with Turkey and Pie.
