Does anyone know what today is? It is my blogging birthday! One year ago today I made my very first post at Essential Keystrokes. Seven blogs and so many new friends later, all I can say is THANK YOU to everyone who has made this year so much fun.
In other news, don’t forget to join in the contest at Weary Parent. I extended the deadline to this afternoon since I know it has been a crazy week for many of you.
For Casual Friday today, I invite you all in for my blogging birthday bash! Bring your cup of coffee and I’ll supply the virtual (and calorie free) cake. In addition to our usual chit chat, I want you to share with us your all time favorite post - from your own blog. Basically I am asking you to brag a bit.
I’d also like to thank Eliza, Katelyn, Gayla, Laura, Sherri, Randa, Denise, Jane, Matthew, Agent Sully, Dana and Kris for making last Friday so much fun.

Happy Blogging Birthday!!

Eliza - another early riser! Good morning. I got up at 5:50 am this morning - had to get some quiet time at my desk before “Play Date Central” opens up. I have my two girls plus one of their friends here now (my son is at the other family’s house with his best bud) and one of my other friends is bringing her three girls over to play today, too. I will have two 5 year olds, an 8 year old, two 9 year olds, and a 10 year old all day. What was I thinking? Luckily it is a nice day and they can all play outside.

Wow, lots of kids over there today. I actually slept in today so now feeling very far behind. lol
Congrats on your blogging milestone Char! I am still trying to think up something to enter your Weary Parent contest- glad you extended the deadline. I might make it! Sounds like a crazy week at your house.

Mine are all up and ready to do stuff. What stuff, I don’t know. There’s a buzz of creativity in the air and even SoccerBoy is reading a book. Need to rent movies tonight. Any you watch lately?
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 8:34 am
Randa - thanks! I am sure you, of all people, got great advice as a teen. It’s controlled chaos here - I’m actually fine with it.
Homemome3 - My kids watched Night at the Museum earlier this week - it was a good family film and they loved it.
How about some links to your favorite posts - that you wrote.
I think one of the great things about being a woman is that most of us can easily be productive with things being chaotic around us. I am easily able to write a blog post with my son rolling around on my lap. (though the bigger he gets, the more difficult that becomes) If my husband has Jack for a period, he cannot manage to do a single other thing- men are so single task oriented it seems. How’s that for stereotyping?
One of my favorite posts? How about this one about memories of my grandparents’ house in Abilene, Texas.
Happy Blogiversary to you!
We’re finally getting some rain here. We were outside checking it out. You’d have thought we’d never seen rain before.
There goes the crunchy grass lol

Congratulations on an eventful first year. I wish you continued success with all 7 blogs.
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 9:09 am
Randa - you are absolutely right! I just administered the first band-aid of the day. All six girls are riding bikes, scooters and the flying turtle on the circular driveway. I’m sure there will be more band-aid moments as the day goes on.
Gayla - we had rain last night and it is nice and cool this morning. No crunchy grass here.
Kate - thanks for stopping in! How are your blogs doing? Do you have more time now that summer is here?
Happy Blogging Anniversary to Essential Keystrokes! Congrats on one whole year!
This week flew by for me. I can’t believe it’s already Friday! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend.
Here is a link to one of my favorite posts, The Tau of Beach Bodies:
For some reason the link didn’t show up…
Here it is:

Oooh… is there any cake left? And my favorite post is The Day I Browsed 2 Million Second Hand Books - http://www.growyourwritingbusiness.com/?p=101.
It was so cool. It’s the world’s largest second hand booksale. It’s held twice each year in Brisabane, Australia - about 2 hours from where I live. You can never have too many books, right?
Sounds like you have a busy but fun day ahead of you, Char. Enjoy!
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 10:11 am
Jane - your beach bodies post is great!
Yvonne - plenty of cake here! Help yourself. The book sale sounds wonderful! Is it just grown up books or do they have kids books too?
Interestingly by far the largest section was the children’s books…. mountains of them. On the last day you could take all you could fit in a plastic shopping bag for $4 or 3 bags for $10. That’s a lot of books!
In another hall, they had rare books. I came away with a stack of writing books… of course
and a few more besides. It was very well organized with books set out in sections on a huge range of toics.
I couldn’t come away empty handed. All the money raised goes to counselling services.

That sounds like an event not to be missed. My kids love reading and would have so much fun filling a bag. Which reminds me, we need to make a stop at the library soon.
Homemom3 wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 11:02 am
I’ve never thought about it, guess I’ll have to go and read some stuff to see which I liked best. Oh boy and assignment lol. I know I do love my contest posts. lol.
Doris wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 11:17 am
Hi Char, Happy Anniversary! I’m here to share a bite of the cake. Nice to connect with you in this blogosphere.
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 11:27 am
Doris - cake is on me today - enjoy. What is your favorite post of all time?
Randa wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 11:38 am
2 million books… cheap… sounds like heaven!
Happy Blog Anniversary, Char! You have certainly taken to it and are well on your way.
I am depressed today, after a funeral yesterday. Sorry to be a downer. The kids pulled me out of bed for breakfast, but I’m back watching Starter Wife, which I don’t think is very good. (Not nearly as good as Rescue Me, which we discovered as a new interim show during summer re-runs and are catching up on DVD — me & hubby, not a kid-show.) We are rallying and getting out this afternoon, in another half-hour.
At the risk of wallowing in it, this is my favorite post at the moment:

Sherri - sorry to hear your sad news. Chin up. And as far as Rescue Me goes - it is one of our favorites too - once the kids are fast asleep. Dennis Leary just has a way with pushing that edge and somewhat making you like him in the process.
Thanks for joining us and bringing us a link.

Happy blogging birthday, Char.
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 12:39 pm
HI Denise!
Update on controlled chaos - just administered band-aid #2. One friend went home and my son came home, too. He says he is going to hide from all the girls.

Happy Blogiversary to You!
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Hello V-Grrrl! You left my second comment of all time and were one of my blogging catalysts. I can not wait to see you in a few weeks. Have you got those Kipling bags packed?
Thanks!

Hmmm…I’m going to have to come back to read everyone else’s. Happy blogging birthday! And my favorite changes with my mood. I haven’t actually posted my favorite one, though. I’ll do that tonight and come back. (I’m in the process of rescuing my favorite posts from my old blog before it gets deleted and posting them to my current one.
Second Generation Mean Girl is my favorite column that I’ve written lately on So Sioux Me. I think it touches on an important issue we’ll all face in September - school clothes and just who is driving the fashion show. I would appreciate any and all comments because I’m truly interested in generating a discussion. http://traceesioux.blogspot.com/2007/06/second-generation-mean-girl.html .
On Blogfabulous, I’m going to have to go with the one where I found out I was fine if I showed up to a friends house for the weekend with no clothes, make-up or anything. Just proves I’m cool enough with nothing to back me up. http://www.blogfabulous.com/fashion-faux-paux/
Char wrote @ June 22nd, 2007 at 2:51 pm
Dana - I know how the favorite changing with the mood goes. Looking forward to your post.
Tracee- glad to see you here today! I’m off to read your posts.

ok, here’s my favorite, with an hour to spare, CST!

At least for the moment because it lies at the heart of a lot of my recent ponderings.
