Happy 2008! The holidays were great, I got to see many family members and traveling ACROSS country. lol. Thankfully we missed most of the storms, however we are still on the road but headed back so keep us in your thoughts. We are about 8 hours from where we want to be. As far as new year’s go my only thing right now is finding a house and a school for the kids, other than that I’m taking your page and adding attitude to my list. I want to do things I always say I want to do, I want to not be afraid to venture out. This year will be about me making changes and experimenting. Wish me luck. How are the wee ones, they still sick?

Eliza - glad to see your travels are going well. Where is your final destination? My kids are all healthy and at school today. Let’s hope it stays that way for a while.

My children are still on holiday until Monday. In fact, husband has taken son to the Aquarium today (big treat for a boy who keeps fish and frogs) and I must go and collect my girls from their friends very soon.
We had a fab Christmas. Because there are so many of us in my family, we rent a Youth Hostel every two years - this year we were on a beach in Wales, and could just open the door and let the children run …
My family goal this year is Less Waste - less food waste, less packaging waste, less power waste. I don’t want us to sit in the dark, being cold and hungry, but I do think we are wasteful and want to try and get on top of that this year.

Lucy - that sounds like the perfect holiday! There is a great family resort in Ireland called Oysterhaven that we have stayed in a few times and it is wonderful for large family gatherings - plus it has so much for the kids to do!!
Just this morning I was also thinking about less waste. I feel like we waste so much as a family and I would like to make a concerted effort to buy less, throw out less, and generally save more this year.

Thanks for the link, Char! Happy New Year.

Now Oysterhaven looks great - I’ve been meaning to visit Ireland for years, so maybe I should add that to my 2008 good intentions …

Denise - you are welcome.
Lucy - you would love the southern coast of Ireland. Oysterhaven is a great place to stay - it is off the beaten path, but still close enough to Kinsale, Cork and other must see spots on the southern coast of Ireland. Here is a picture I took from the front door of our cottage last year

I would love to sleep. It has been a whirlwind here.

Hi Pickel - I’m not surprised you’re voting for sleep, it must have been mayhem for you with a new baby
Char - you are so right! And what a lovely day it is in your picture … yes, I must, must put Ireland on my list. I’ve visited Dublin for work (long time ago), and a tiny bit of Northern Ireland’s coast but haven’t seen much of the south at all. Husband likes warmth when he’s on holiday, though, so I might get overruled. Perhaps I can get the children’s vote.

Happy New Year to all of you!
With 2 little one’s - I am trying to be a better mom and be caaaalllllmmmm this year!

Lucy - in the summer it is very nice and warm on the southern coast of Ireland. My brother and I learned to wind surf at Oysterhaven when we were teens.
Brooke - happy new year! Calm, what is that? Just take some time for yourself on a regular basis and you’ll be a great mom!
Brooke wrote @ January 4th, 2008 at 1:56 pm
No - not for myself - but be more…mmmm…less of a temper. Be more patient with them. That’s what I really want to do. The 2 year old actually hit her terricle twos. (He was actually 3 1/2 when he ht them). So things have been challenging the last two months.
I’m still not over the holidays. Everything seems to be moving in slow motion for me. I hope it lasts a little longer heh. Happy New Year everyone

Brooke - I remember those days. It really gets easier as they get older and communicate easier.
Brown Baron - Slow motion - I think that is a great description of this week.

Char, that’ll be in Missouri, where we’ll hopefully be finding a home.
Took me a while to respond, had to stop off at Sternberg Museum in Hays, KS. I have a dinosaur freak and think now I have four lol.
