Happy Friday! For the past few weeks I have seen previews for the new movie starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman called The Bucket List. The previews look really good. The movie is about two men from different backgrounds who find themselves sharing a hospital room. They also share the desire to life the remainder of their lives to the fullest and come up with a “bucket list” - a list of things they want to accomplish before they “kick the bucket”.
Have you ever taken the time to sit down and make your own bucket list? I know some people keep a running list, but others like me are just taking things one day at a time really. Now that I have seen the previews (and hope to see the movie eventually), it has got me thinking a bit about what I really want to do. Here are a few of the items I am going to put on my list:
- Attend the Olympics (not as a coach or participant, but as a spectator)
- Get my Elite rating as a gymnastics judge (will start working on this seriously once my kids are in college)
- Take ballroom dance lessons
- Sell one of my websites for a large sum of money (one can dream right?)
- Buy a house in a quaint seaside town where I can walk to everything I need
Liz at Successful Blog, has posted her Bucket List for 2008 as part of a blogging meme that is going around, so obviously, this movie has got quite a few people thinking now!
For Casual Friday, I want to know what’s on your bucket list - it can be long term or short term, practical or as adventurous as you wish!! And of course, you can feel free to talk about anything else too. Come join us!!
1) Travel to Europe (specifically, England, Italy, Portugal, Ireland, Poland and France)
2) Take a cross-country road trip in an RV with my hubby and dogs
3) Take dance lessons (I’m with you on this one, Char - but I don’t think my hubby will go along with it!)
4) Open a no-kill animal sanctuary for homeless animals
Happy Friday!

Jane - I don’t think I could get my husband to take lessons with me either! England and Ireland are wonderful - I would like to see Spain, Austria and Italy as well.
My daughter would gladly help you with #4.

V - I know it is bittersweet leaving Europe but I am looking forward to meeting you for a cup of coffee with you when you get back!!
Two must do things this year…
1. Really enjoy my wife and our life together.
2. Deeply engage my kids; fully being the dad they deserve.
I wrote a post last year about my Gotta Get Goals.
Hi Char!! Love this idea… My Bucket List
1) Have at least one more baby.
2) Travel with my husband on a romantic vacation.
3) Start a warm climate trip every year with my family.
4) Buy my mother and father something extravagant. They don’t require anything, and I would just love to do that for them someday.
5) Run a marathon with my husband.

There are a few places I’d like to visit. Ya know the tourist traps first, I would also like to travel the world by boat (houseboat). Try my hand at a few cultural meals and events. Ski, water ski, learn to swim, surf some waves, jump from a plane. Many of these means I must conquer my fear of whatever.
Oh and lets not forget to publish some books that I have stored away at the moment.
1. Visit Ireland, England, and Germany
2. Build (ok, hubby build) a Log House with 3 bedrooms, 3 baths, a craft room, homeschool room, big dining room, utility room and a walk in pantry.
3. Go on a cruise

This is difficult, because so much of my life revolves around people. It is difficult to know that they will want or where they will be. If my relationships with my husband and kids aren’t working, nothing else matters much.
Hmmm…
1) Spend time with the people that I care about most.
2) Travel, definitely.

1) Spend as much quality time as I can with my son while I can (meaning while he still lets me).
2) Have a house on or near a lake or ocean.
3) Go to Hawaii

Really, all I want is to see my kids (and my niece and nephews) grow up healthy and happy, and get to know their kids, and while I’m at it I want to see their kids grow up healthy and happy too.
How fun!
My bucket list:
1. Buy a bigger farm - not THE farm, but more acreage
2. Buy a vacation home someplace warm and tropical
3. Have enough money to travel to my warm vacation home whenever I want
4. Have laser eye surgery and see clearly for the first time since 4th grade
5. Open a no kill shelter that takes in the animals that Jane’s can’t
