I meant to post this yesterday, but for some reason I was so tired that I went to bed with the kids at 9:30 - that never happens! Here are a few links that are definitely worth visiting this week.
And now a question for you? Would you like to be a guest blogger? As most of you know, I have a bit of a blogging habit and manage more than one blog. I just can’t help myself. Anyhow, there are plenty of opportunities to be a guest blogger at any of my sites - at any time in the future. All you have to do is leave me a comment (or send me an email) and let me know where you’d like to be a guest. I have listed my blogs and some ideas below.
- Essential Keystrokes - Do you have a list of favorite web tools for online success? Or do you have a tech question you would like me to answer?
- Casual Keystrokes - Share your work from home story or life balance tips.
- Sports Girls Play - Does your daughter play a sport? I’d love to get your take on the sport from a parent’s perspective.
- Doll Diaries - I am always looking for pictures of American Girl Dolls, Barbie, MyTwinn, and other collectible dolls. Have you been to American Girl Place? Or any other doll adventures? Feel free to share!
- Raising A Healthy Family - This is a BRAND new blog. Do you have a child with a special health issue? Do you have any tips for staying fit as a family? This one is pretty wide open right now. Even if you aren’t interested in guest blogging, stop over and take a look - I’ve love to know what you think of it.
Have a wonderful week everyone as we say good-bye to the busiest month I have survived this year!

Mike of Be A Good Dad was the gracious host of the Mother’s Day edition of the Carnival of Family Life this week. He did a great job and there were so many fun entries.
Some of my favorites include:
ispf presents 5 Gifts for Mom That Won’t Ever Go Out of Fashion posted at Grad Money Matters.
Mommy the Maid presents I busted a Mother’s Day Surprise posted at Ramblings from the not-so typical Stay at Home Mom.
Karen Lynch presents Mommies, Moms, Grandmas and the Circle of Life posted at Live The Power.
Mike gets to host it again this week so if you are interested in participating join in!

Let me see a show of hands. Who is hosting a Super Bowl Party on Sunday? Who is going to one? I have a few super easy, guaranteed to please, recipes for those of you who still don’t know what to make/bring.
Must-have More Meatballs
- 5 lb. bag of pre-made Italian style meatballs (Costco/BJs/Sam’s Club)
- 1 large jar of grape jelly
- 2 bottles of Heinz Chili Sauce (sold near the cocktail sauce)
Place all ingredients in the slow cooker for 4-6 hours, then serve.
Pepperoni Bread
- 1 loaf of Rich’s Frozen Dinner Bread Dough (it’s uncooked - in the freezer case) thawed to room temperature
- Small package of pepperoni
- 1 Cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease flat working surface and roll out bread dough until flat and thin. Cover surface of dough with pepperoni and then cheese. Roll the entire thing up like a jelly roll and seal the seam with a bit of water. Place on cookie sheet and bake on 350 for 30 minutes. Slice and serve with marinara sauce for dipping. I highly recommend making at least two loaves - they will go FAST!

Somedays I feel like the ringmaster in a very large circus - Cirque du Mommy! And today I am the ringmaster in the Carnival of Red Hot Bloggers. Our topic for the week is "Tales from the Playdate Files," so give me your best and your worst or just walk that tightrope and let’s see what we get.
I have three kids and live on a street with no other kids, so playdates and sports are the only way my kids get to see their friends. Personally, I don’t mind being the playdate hostess - it gives me an opportunity to really see how my kids’ friends are and how they all interact.
My youngest is 5 and goes to school in the afternoons. She has a friend that comes over some mornings and usually they play really well. This week my daughter was having real issues with interaction and I felt bad for her friend. All Miss N wanted to do was dance to music but wanted her friend to just sit and watch. How rude! Her poor friend just sat there and finally I couldn’t take it anymore and had to intervene. Would you have done the same?
This afternoon should also be interesting. The older two each have a friend coming over and the youngest doesn’t. I feel bad for her, but part of being a sibling is learning that life isn’t always fair. Hopefully the big kids will do a good job of including her or else I will be stuck playing infinite rounds of Littlest Pet Shop Game
game with her.
Enough of my ramblings! What are your experiences with kids and playdates?
- Angela at Oh, Baby Baby questions the need for formal playdates and gives us her reasons. Afterall, isn’t going to the park considered a playdate, too?
- Babytalkers is lucky enough that she can still pick her child’s friends and so far so good. She even confesses that playdates are as much for her as they are for her child.
- Gayla at MomGadget has got her boys trained - they now pick the friends who come over based on their ability to follow house rules.
- Doris at Home Office Women has learned that playdates can be a good way to observe "the other side" of your child’s personality as he develops his interaction skills.
Want to part of our carnival today? Leave me a comment with a link to your post and you are in! Feeling stressed about meeting a deadline? There is none. If you put together a post today or next week, I’ll still add it.

I will be hosting a blog carnival on Friday. The topic this week is “Tales from the Playdate Files.” Your entries can be funny, serious, helpful or what ever you want them to be. Tell me about your idea of playdate etiquette, how about some stories of playdates gone wrong? Do your kids have friends you like but you don’t care for the parents? How about the other way around - you like the parents, not the kid.
How it works. Create a post on the topic at your blog and check here Friday. Include a link to my Friday post in your blog entry and leave me a comment, too. I will add your entry to the carnival. This is a great way to get that writing brain moving and meet some new bloggers in the process.
