Happy Friday! For the past few weeks I have seen previews for the new movie starring Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman called The Bucket List. The previews look really good. The movie is about two men from different backgrounds who find themselves sharing a hospital room. They also share the desire to life the remainder of their lives to the fullest and come up with a “bucket list” - a list of things they want to accomplish before they “kick the bucket”.
Have you ever taken the time to sit down and make your own bucket list? I know some people keep a running list, but others like me are just taking things one day at a time really. Now that I have seen the previews (and hope to see the movie eventually), it has got me thinking a bit about what I really want to do. Here are a few of the items I am going to put on my list:
- Attend the Olympics (not as a coach or participant, but as a spectator)
- Get my Elite rating as a gymnastics judge (will start working on this seriously once my kids are in college)
- Take ballroom dance lessons
- Sell one of my websites for a large sum of money (one can dream right?)
- Buy a house in a quaint seaside town where I can walk to everything I need
Liz at Successful Blog, has posted her Bucket List for 2008 as part of a blogging meme that is going around, so obviously, this movie has got quite a few people thinking now!
For Casual Friday, I want to know what’s on your bucket list - it can be long term or short term, practical or as adventurous as you wish!! And of course, you can feel free to talk about anything else too. Come join us!!

Happy first Friday of 2008 everyone!! Personally, I am very happy the holidays are over - even though they were very nice. I am just worn out. As a result I am just trying to ease back into the swing of things.
How about you? How were the holidays? Did you get anything good? Now that its the New Year did you make resolutions or did you go my route and set forth goals or your own personal manifesto? What are you doing to restore your soul and sanity?
Stop in and join us for a virtual cuppa and some good conversation today!

Merry Christmas a few days early everyone! As you can tell my the amount I have posted here this week, I have been a bit busy. Well, actually I had my youngest home for a solid week with the ickiest cold ever. Luckily she is back to health and at school today. Between that and getting ready for the holidays it has been crazy.
Today I want to take a few moments and thank all of my Casual Friday buddies for stopping in every Friday (more or less). I really look forward to Fridays - especially for the conversation!
So, how is your holiday preparation coming along? Shopping done? Wrapping done? Baking done? I’m basically done shopping, half way done wrapping and have done no baking yet (and may not do any).
Stop in anytime and join the conversation! Bring a link to your favorite holiday post while you are at it!

Happy Friday everyone! My original plan today was to drop the kids off at school and head to the mall to finish up some final Christmas shopping then come home and do all my wrapping, BUT as always happens with best laid plans, I have a child home sick. Actually, she is home for the second day in a row with a terrible case of pinkeye. ICK! Instead, I will stay home a work, chat with my Friday morning blog pals, try to stay sane and maybe even get the family Christmas letter done.
I have another giveaway planned, but I’ll announce it later today. It’s a fun one that is great for the kids or teachers.
Last week’s Virtual Cookie Swap was fun! Lots of yummy recipes shared, too. Thanks to Eliza, DeafMom, Gayla, Jane, Lucy, Randa, Tiff, Linette, and MyStarbucks for joining in the fun last week.
So, how is your week going? Are the holiday plans falling into place or falling apart?

The closer we get to the holidays the less I feel like working and the more I want to just take in all the traditions that make the holidays so special. Wouldn’t it be fun to get all the Casual Friday crew together for a holiday cookie swap party? I think it would be so much fun and I’m sure everyone would have the most delicious baked goods to share.
Since distance, time and money keeps us from having a big holiday party in my office, I think we should have a virtual one instead today!! Leave us a comment with the name of the baked good you are bringing to the party - you can post the recipe on your site and I’ll link to it, or just put the recipe in your comment. Also if you have any tips for making holiday baking more fun, successful or a tale of holiday baking gone wrong, you just have to share. Just like a real holiday party, fill us in on your week, your weekend plans, brag on your kids, or give us some juicy gossip - what ever works!!
I’ll get us started! After many years of burning cookies, getting them stuck on cookie sheets, and other disasters, I have figured out that lining my cookie trays with parchment paper is the way to go. Reynolds Parchment Paper has a free offer right now - you can get a free sample pack of parchment paper when you visit their web site. They also have great cookie exchange tips and recipes.
My favorite holiday cookies are the peanut butter cookies with Hershey’s kisses on top.
HERSHEY KISS COOKIESÂ Â Â
1 3/4 c. sifted all-purpose flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. butter
1/3 c. peanut butter
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 c. brown sugar
Sift soda, flour, and salt together. Cream butter, peanut butter, and sugars in another bowl. Add egg and vanilla. Beat well. Blend in dry ingredients. Then shape dough into 1 inch balls; roll in granulated sugar. Place on ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 8 minutes. Take from oven; place a Hershey Kiss in center of cookie. Return to oven for 2-5 minutes.
The coffee is hot, the holiday music is on, and it smells a lot like Christmas! The best part is that virtual cookies are calorie free. Come join the party!!
