Larry the Cable Guy Live

Larry the Cable GuyEvery Christmas I stress over what to get my husband - he seriously has everything he needs already. This Christmas I decided to get him something he wouldn’t have to put away, find a use for, or politely say thank you for - I got him tickets to go see Larry the Cable Guy Live. Needless to say, he loved the gift and couldn’t wait for the date to arrive. The concert was this past weekend at the Warner Theater in downtown Washington DC.

While we both used to work in downtown DC, it still felt like a trip to the big city. We have become very comfortable here on the fringe of suburbia and it almost felt like a mini vacation. The kids were all parcelled out to friends houses so we had a bonified 18 hours of kid free time, too.

The Warner Theater is the PERFECT place to see a comedian of any kind. Its not too large, there is no bad seat, the theater is just steeped in history and it is gorgeous. We had mid-balcony seats and they were fine.  I had a blast people watching before the show - I didn’t know there were so many ways to wear camo!

To start off, let’s just say that Larry has lost some weight! According to him he has lost 50 lbs. using the Nutrisystem diet. Suddenly that diet plan has street cred with a large number of guys!   He was wearing his trademark sleeveless plaid shirt - this one in red - and he says he likes shopping at Wal-Mart because there he is only a medium.

His show was full of the standard non-PC fare, guy jokes, and poking fun at many of the cultural icons of today. We laughed at most of the jokes, but the ones he screwed up and the audience insprired impromptu comebacks were the funniest, in my opinion! A lot of the show is based on his most recent CD Larry the Cable Guy: Morning Constitutions and even though my husband had heard many of the jokes before, he said it was so much funnier in person.

If you like Larry the Cable Guy’s style of humor, the concert is definitely worth the ticket price!
