Create an M&M You or Make Yoda

MnM meHow was that for an odd title? Anyhow, it’s Friday and I hope everyone has some fun planned for the weekend. Take some time out and play with the kids, enjoy the company of your spouse, snag some good “me” time or do all three!

Looking for some ideas? Here are a few I have found for you this week:

Michelle at Scribbit has a great list of 13 (yes, 13) creative family activities. I am sure you can find at least one that will work for your family.

Feeling creative (and patient)? Make your own origami Yoda thanks to Ingo at Amanita Muscaria. May the force be with you!

The folks at M&M have come up with a fun, interactive, design your own M&M character activity. Thanks to Sandy at PurpleWren for that one.

Have a great weekend!

Our Bombay Kids Betsy Room

When it comes to decorating your kids’ rooms, what is your style? Let them paint the walls and decorate according to their own taste or are you partial to white walls?

I was reading about the Princess Room at PlayLibrary.com and decided to share some pictures of my 8 year old daughter’s room, too.

It’s just paint. It’s just paint. These are the words I kept repeating over and over in my head as I rolled the first strip of deep magenta on my daughter’s wall. It was so bright and took about three coats of paint to really look good. I kept asking myself what I was getting into.

The next wall got painted purple. And the two end walls – they were a silvery blue. When I started the project, I could not imagine how awesome it would turn out. We pulled her wild paint scheme together with the Betsy wallpaper border and accessories from Bombay Kids (like the .

Needless to say – this room ROCKS and will grow with her nicely through her teens.

Show Me Your Snow And I’ll Show You Mine

It is mid-January and we finally got our first snow of the season. The kids are already anticipating a snow day tomorrow and I am hoping for a mere two-hour delay. It is still snowing, but I really doubt we’ll get more than and inch or two. Our school district is pretty wimpy, so chances are, school will be canceled.

I took a picture looking out our back door. I know many of you will laugh – it’s not much, but the kids think it’s wonderful.

I’d love to see your snow! Post a picture of your snow – from today or two weeks ago – it doesn’t matter, leave me a comment with a link, and I will list it here.

Everyone Loves A Quiz

Quizzes are fun. Personality, style, memes, you name it, they are always fun.

Sandy at Purple Wren shared a quiz she found at True Value Paint (of all places). By taking the quiz you can reveal your color personality, and then pick the shade of that color that you really want to paint those walls!

Its a quick and easy quiz – only six questions. The first time I took it, the result was BROWN. I went back and looked at the questions again and changed one that was questionable and again the result was BROWN. I do like brown, though. The first floor of our house is painted a light tan/sand color, we have lots of oak furniture and floors, and even my office chair is dark brown leather.

Here is what the quiz says about me:

If it’s in the outdoors, it’s for you. It’s probably this appreciation for Mother Nature that leaves you with a calm appearance. Not attracted to anything bizarre, you’d prefer to keep your distance from the latest fads or styles. You swing to the conservative side, and are comfortable when everything is in it’s place. While you enjoy other’s company, you feel most relaxed when it’s just you, yourself and you.

Go take the quiz and let me know what color you are? Is it accurate?

Four Stars for Shall We Dance

Let me start by saying, I am not a movie person. I usually have a hard time just sitting and watching TV or movies. However, this evening my husband and I channel surfed to the Lifetime network and started watching the 2004 movie “Shall We Dance” with Richard Gere, Jennifer Lopez and Susan Sarandon.

The movie synopsis according to the Lifetime website is:

A married workaholic impulsively signs up for dance lessons after seeing the beautiful instructor through the window. Though disappointed that the beauty isn’t his teacher, he surprises himself by falling in love with dancing. Little does he know his new passion, which he keeps a secret, could be a balm for his troubled marriage. This feel-good flick with an all-star cast is sure to dance its way into your heart.

After a few moments, I closed my laptop and was completely sucked in to this movie. The dancing was beautiful and the chemistry between the characters was enough to make my heart pound.

The twists and turns in the movie were like the dances themselves – I wasn’t always sure where the movie was going but I was enjoying the dance.

Lifetime is airing the movie again at 9 pm (EST) on Sunday and Monday. If you need a good mental getaway that will leave you feeling good, check it out.
