Seeing Stars - Why Do They Act That Way?

I know it must be difficult to live your life in the public eye, but what is it about the personality of celebrities that makes it so hard for them to live by the same rules as the rest of us?

I think many people who are drawn to being actors and actress, comedians and other performers crave attention. They tend to be insecure individuals in many aspects, but the applause of the audience and constant media attention feed their hunger for attention. Do you really think that Tom Cruise would be happy with his life if his acting and celebrity career would suddenly be done? Have his recent antics been a desperate attempt to keep him in the public eye? I think so. Can you imagine living with that man? Too high maintenance - no way!!

And what about all the actresses who are constantly starving themselves? Someone needs to step in and let these girls know that they are fine just the way they are! But I do think there is something about their personalities - the same thing that makes them good performers also makes them do stupid things.

In my opinion, divas in any arena of life tend to be so amazingly good at what they do that other vital areas of their lives are never developed - like common sense (think - Einstein).  You find this with elite athletes, geniuses, musicians and actors.

What do you think? Is it just their personality or am I missing the boat on this one?  And in the meantime, if you need some more celebrity antics to keep you amused, check out CelebAmour - she’s got it all there.

VOTE Today!

VOTE - it is your right! Would you like the right to gripe for the next few years? Then get out and vote today. If you do not take a few minutes out of your day and exercise your freedom as a US citizen and vote today, then you have given up your right to complain, rant, or express disbelief in what the politicians are up to. You have a voice - use it. It doesn’t matter to me who you vote for. I know who I am voting for and I’m not telling. I will cast my vote today, and if things go in my favor, great. If not, I have the right to complain until the next time I get a choice.

So, did you vote today? If so, leave me a comment and I’ll add you to the list of those who did! (Think of it as a free link to the blog/web site of your choice).

I have to make it quick today as I need to leave for a field trip to the Pumpkin Patch with my preschooler (ah, the last one…).  Here are some notable posts from the blogosphere today:

The Queen of Multitasking or ADD?

Juggling - this image belongs to me - do not copySomedays I wonder. I wonder if I am so used to multitasking or do I have ADD? Ever felt that way?

Examples? I’ve got plenty. I’m not talking about normal mom stuff like tying a toddler’s shoe while talking on the phone and monitoring dinner at the same time. I’m talking about why can’t I watch TV - just sit there and watch TV. I can’t. I have to be doing crossword puzzles, surfing on my laptop or doing something or I will fall asleep. I am not kidding. This drives my husband crazy.

I remember in high school that I always did better during the times of the year when I was juggling 3 or 4 afterschool activities. For some reason I stayed on task best when I just didn’t have a choice. My freshman year of college was almost a disaster because I had too much free time! I couldn’t manage to get anything done and my grades reflected it. I moved back home, got a job working 30 hours a week and instantly all was back to normal.

I am the same way even now when I work. I’ll be starting my work for the day and within minutes my mind is thinking of other things I need to be doing. So I make a phone call while waiting for a page to upload to the server, and then I drop in a load of laundry, pick up some clutter along the way back to my office, check my email and get back to what I was working on. This cycle repeats itself all day long. The days I am most productive are the days when I have small blocks of time to be productive and plenty of deadlines looming over my head.

So, what do you think? ADD or do I just have an overactive brain?

In the Mood for a Change

Okay, I can’t control my haircolor, but I can control my blog!!  I am in the mood for something blue so here we go.  The theme is called Sky3c and I think I’ll give it a spin.

Bear with me while I experiment with the header and tweak the layout a bit.  What do you think? Too blue? Just right? Don’t care?
