About 10 years ago we split a large bedroom in our house into 2 bedroom’s to accomodate the arrival of our second child - a girl. Of course the room had to be pink and white, and for the past 10 years it has been. Since we made that room into the nursery, my son moved to a larger room on the other side of the house, our almost 10 year old took over his old room (you can see her Bombay Kids Betsy room here), and our youngest who is now 6 has been the occupant of the pink room.

Our 6 year old is pretty creative and very opinionated. She was adamant that her room would not be pink and it would instead be green. She has been on my case to get her room repainted for about 3 years and finally wore me down last week. I bought the wallpaper border and had the green in the border matched to custom paint. I have spent all weekend working on the room and the bulk of it is now done.

What do you think? The whole thing has cost me less than $100 to do. The wallpaper border was pretty inexpensive - only $7 a roll and I only needed 3 rolls. One gallon of green paint and one quart of white trim paint. The butterfly comforter is one we had on my other daughter’s bed before we redecorated her room and it was on clearance then.
Once I get all of her furniture back in the room, I will probably add a few more finishing touches - especially on the big wall next to her bed. If nothing else, I can say this has been a pretty productive weekend.

Do you recognize my gal? Last fall I discovered a great site called Design-her Gals and used their interactive gal creator to design my online persona. Since then, she has been all over the Internet, visiting blogs around the world, showing up in MyBlogLog lists, appearing in comments, and gracing forums, too.
Design-her Gals lets you create your own likeness, dress her up and then have her printed on a variety of products from stationery to invitations, t-shirts or send her as part of a custom e-card. The proceeds from Design-her Gals sales go to the Gal to Gal Foundation to benefit women diagnosed with Stage IV Breast Cancer and Breast Cancer survivors.
My latest giveaway is being sponsored by Design-her Gals!! We are giving away a gift certificate for $45 towards any of the Design-her Gals printed products.
The lucky winner will get to design their own custom business card, invitations, holiday cards, notepads, or labels. These are so unique and everyone will want to know where you got them. I created my own holiday cards last year and sent them to all my clients. I got so many compliments, it was amazing!
There’s More! Join me on a virtual walk!
Design-her Gals is making history in October as they host a the Gal to Gal virtual walk from Boston to San Francisco. I plan on being a part of it all and so can you - there is no training required!!

From their press release:
Supporters will participate in The Gal to Gal Walk by creating their virtual likeness online and then watching themselves take a virtual walk across America. The walk will commence in the Virtual World of Harvard Square in Boston, MA, and concludes on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, visiting 29 cities along the way. The landscape walkers travel through will change on a daily basis, giving people a reason to return to see where they are walking that day. New walkers will be joining all the time – sharing their stories and building momentum as more people participate in this innovative fundraising effort.
This unique approach to philanthropy has attracted strategic partners such as Yoplait, Checks Unlimited, FTD.com, Lucy and Fodor’s who have pledged to mobilize their communities to join the walk. In addition, dozens of celebrity ambassadors such as Lynn Redgrave, Kristin Chenoweth, Molly Sims, Mena Suvari, Diane Farr, Leisha Hailey, Marg Helgenberger and Jorja Fox will lend their support and participate in the virtual walk.
You can begin registering for the Gal to Gal walk on Wednesday, September 26. There is a $3 donation required for registration, but all proceeds will go toward the Gal to Gal Foundation. What a fun and unique way to raise money for a great cause.
How Do I Enter To Win The Gift Certificate?

Motherhood is one of the biggest accomplishments and biggest challenges of my life so far. Before I was a Mom, I did lots of things - I taught gymnastics full time, I traveled to far off places (often on my own) and I spent plenty of Sunday afternoons doing jigsaw puzzles. Then there were the social things like going out to lunch with friends, taking weekend getaways with my husband, and business functions. Who says that when you become a Mom, that all these things must stop? I don’t think they have to.
I have met too many Mommies who have given it all up for Motherhood. They lose their sense of self and their often their happiness.
Here are my top 3 reasons why Moms need a life, too!Â
3. Because coffee with your girlfriends is cheaper than therapy. Just having someone to vent with and share some giggles with can go a long way to happiness and maintaining your sense of self.
2. Because your kids should not be better dressed than you. By taking the time and effort to dress in something better than sweats and t’s each day, you teach your children (by example) that taking care of yourself is important.
1. Because one day, your kids will all be grown! What do you want to be when your kids grow up? Why wait that long? Start working and living those dreams and goals now. You and your family will be better for it!
Now, I am sure we can add to this list. Give me your reasons why Moms need a life, too.

Normally I look forward to Thursdays. Normally we don’t have any afterschool activities on Thursdays and I have a lot of time in my office. Not today.
I found out last night that we have out of town guests arriving late this afternoon - right about the time the kids get home from school. And we have Middle School orientation tonight, too. Yikes!
Instead of continuing my quest to finish up all my work projects and clean out my inbox by Friday afternoon, I now have to tackle this house and come up with a dinner option for 8 people.
Has anyone seen my magic wand? I could really use it today!!! How about a quick dinner option for 8? Ideas?Â
