So, I just got back from the hair dresser. The hair was getting a little wild and needed to be reined in. Like all good hairdressers, mine immediately asked if I wanted to get color done today as well, you know, to cover up the gray hairs.
I told her that I would like to just keep my silver highlights instead!
I have decided to make peace with the fact that I am getting older, my hair is starting to get gray and coloring it with chemicals (that I react to every time) is no longer the solution.
Who else has silver highlights? Show of hands?

Doris tagged me today for another “meme” – this one with the theme of three things you are thankful for. Well, her timing couldn’t be better as I have quite a bit to be thankful for today.
1. I haven’t been feeling great lately and I noticed a lump on my rib cage. My doctor ordered a full blood work up and a CT scan. I had the CT this morning and the good news is that they didn’t find any tumors. I’ll touch base with the doctor next week and discuss everything in detail, but at least I won’t spend the weekend worrying like crazy.
2. I am thankful I work from home. We have had bad weather this week and our kids have been home two days so far and I just got word that they are staying home again tomorrow. While I haven’t gotten as much work done as I’d like, at least I haven’t had to stress over what to do with my kids all week.
3. Of course, I am thankful for all my family and friends (at home and online). Everyone has been great lately and I have really needed it.
Let’s continue this meme by tagging LocalGirl at Island Life, Michelle at Scribbit, Carrie at My Lil’ Corner of the World, Laura at I’m an Organizing Junkie, and Jen at Blue Monday.

I love purses. I change them out by the season and sometimes more often than that. A while back my good pal V-grrrl introduced me to Kipling Bags
. V is from the States but is currently living in Belgium and has acquired quite the taste for Kipling bags.
When I recently helped V’s friend Di with getting her website up and running I told her she could just pay me in Kipling (purses that is). She thought I was joking – no I was serious. I don’t know if you can even get Kipling bags in the US and certainly not in my small little town, so they are special.
So she and V-grrrl went on a shopping trip and found me two cute Kipling bags to add some fun to my handbag wardrobe.
The first one is the Fairfax from the Moccachina line. It’s chocolate brown and white so it will go with anything, year round. It has lots of pockets and compartments – making it a perfect choice for a mom on the go.

The second one is from the Basic Line and is called Diane. My daughter already has her eye on this pale lavender bag. Sorry – it’s mine! It has a front pocket that fits my Treo phone perfectly! And its trademark monkey keychain is named Dorothy – too cute.

So, thanks V-grrrl and Di! You made great choices – I love them both! Oh, and the chocolate truffles – YUMMY!

When it comes to decorating your kids’ rooms, what is your style? Let them paint the walls and decorate according to their own taste or are you partial to white walls?
I was reading about the Princess Room at PlayLibrary.com and decided to share some pictures of my 8 year old daughter’s room, too.
It’s just paint. It’s just paint. These are the words I kept repeating over and over in my head as I rolled the first strip of deep magenta on my daughter’s wall. It was so bright and took about three coats of paint to really look good. I kept asking myself what I was getting into.

The next wall got painted purple. And the two end walls – they were a silvery blue. When I started the project, I could not imagine how awesome it would turn out. We pulled her wild paint scheme together with the Betsy wallpaper border and accessories from Bombay Kids (like the .

Needless to say – this room ROCKS and will grow with her nicely through her teens.

In my web travels last week, I came upon one of those sites that you just can’t help but share with your friends! It is called Designher Gals. It is kind of like playing dress up but is also one of the coolest, unique gift ideas I have seen this year, and its proceeds are used to raise money for the Gal to Gal Foundation.
At Designher Gals you create your own gal – a child, teen/young adult, grown up, or mommy with a bump. You pick her features such as hair color and style, eye color, skin color and such. You also choose her clothes, accessories and “attitude”. Once you have created your gal, you can send her as an e-Card for free or turn her into personalized stationery, stickers, t-shirts, invitations and other gifts that look like you or your friends.
Go check it out! But make sure you have a block of time set aside, because once you start playing and creating your gal pals, it is hard to stop!
