Happy Halloween!! I hope you don’t overdose on chocolate and candy corn today and that all your little goblins have a great time dressing up. I’ve got some Halloween treats for you today, starting with a funny little comic I found. Scroll past the comic for lots more Halloween link love.

Father’s Day Gift Ideas For The Dad Who Has It All

I know I have some awesome Dads who read this blog! You all know who you are. Anyhow, I am seeking your advice!

What do you get a great Dad who has everything he needs already?

My husband is the kind of guy who doesn’t really have a wish list. If he needs something for the workshop, he goes and gets it. If he is at the store and sees a movie he wants to see, he gets it. So, when holidays like Father’s Day, his birthday, and Christmas come along I am stumped. And did I mention that his birthday is 10 days after Father’s Day? I think I have his birthday figured out - he is turning 40 and I have some thoughts. But for Father’s Day, I am stumped.

Ideas anyone? He still has a golf gift certificate left from Christmas, hockey season is over, football season hasn’t started, he wears a uniform to work so he doesn’t need any ties, he has an iPod, so see, I am stumped.

Happy Mother’s Day

To all the Moms who give the hugs, make the dinner, fold the laundry, check the homework, fix the boo-boos, drive to endless sports practices, make the cookies for school, change the diapers, calm the fears, give the good night kisses, read the books, enjoy the tea parties, dry the tears, say I love you, rock the babies, sweep the floors, and do all the things that Mommies do - THANK YOU!

What Are Your Mother’s Day Traditions?

Traditions are the glue that hold many families together. I’m not sure how so many of them start, but they do and often take on a life of their own.

Our Mother’s Day tradition is one I look forward to each year. On the Saturday before Mother’s Day, my husband takes the kids and they visit my Mom’s nursery and pick out my annuals for the garden. On Sunday morning I get breakfast in bed and then get the whole day to putter in the garden, plant all the beautiful colors, and give my flower beds a fresh outlook on life.

I just took this picture of my side flower beds. All of the perennials are back and looking good. All it needs now are some bright daisies, wave petunias, celosia, and impatients.

What are your Mother’s Day traditions? Do you get breakfast in bed? Go out for lunch? Do your kids make you something special? Or is it just another day in “paradise” as they say?
