Monday Morning Link Love and Guest Blogging Opportunities

I meant to post this yesterday, but for some reason I was so tired that I went to bed with the kids at 9:30 - that never happens! Here are a few links that are definitely worth visiting this week.

And now a question for you? Would you like to be a guest blogger? As most of you know, I have a bit of a blogging habit and manage more than one blog. I just can’t help myself. Anyhow, there are plenty of opportunities to be a guest blogger at any of my sites - at any time in the future. All you have to do is leave me a comment (or send me an email) and let me know where you’d like to be a guest. I have listed my blogs and some ideas below.

  • Essential Keystrokes - Do you have a list of favorite web tools for online success? Or do you have a tech question you would like me to answer?
  • Casual Keystrokes - Share your work from home story or life balance tips.
  • Sports Girls Play - Does your daughter play a sport? I’d love to get your take on the sport from a parent’s perspective.
  • Doll Diaries - I am always looking for pictures of American Girl Dolls, Barbie, MyTwinn, and other collectible dolls. Have you been to American Girl Place? Or any other doll adventures? Feel free to share!
  • Raising A Healthy Family - This is a BRAND new blog. Do you have a child with a special health issue? Do you have any tips for staying fit as a family? This one is pretty wide open right now. Even if you aren’t interested in guest blogging, stop over and take a look - I’ve love to know what you think of it.

Have a wonderful week everyone as we say good-bye to the busiest month I have survived this year!

Sharing Words of Wisdom

This week has been super busy and it is only Tuesday! Fortunately for me, some of my favorite blogs have been touching on some of the challenges I am facing as I navigate through this summer trying to balance growing my business while working from home with spending plenty of quality time with my kids.

A few posts I highly recommend:

Want to be successful? Learn to manage expectations. Randa Clay has reminded me of a very important business strategy - managing client expectations. I can’t think of a more important business princple than this during summer. Apart from the time constraints of having kids home, there are things like summer vacation (for you and your client), holidays, and the generally slower pace of business in the summer.

What you want may be different than what you will settle for. Is Wendy talking to me? Uh, maybe! Balancing a successful business with being a successful Mom is a constant push and pull scenario. Wendy reminds us to take stock of our goals and the goals of those around us and to make sure that we are not just settling because it is the most comfortable route at the time.

A Definitive List of Paid Blogging Sites. I know that many of my readers are familiar with paid blogging and you may even be looking for more opportunities. DoshDosh has a really comprehensive list of paid blogging sites to share.

Thirteen Great Blogs By Dads

Thursday Thirteen

With Sunday being Father’s Day here in the US, I’d like to take some time to recognize some of my favorite Daddy blogs and bloggers who are great Dads!

  1. Rory at Hamelife - Rory writes about communication between parent and child and is obviously a great Dad. However, I do like his latest post on Male Pasttimes.
  2. Mike at Be a Good Dad - I love that he has a page dedicated to the cast of characters on his blog.
  3. Bad Hair Dad - I just love the picture on the About page - you get my vote as a great Dad just for that!
  4. Inside Fatherhood and Silly Dad - Steve is a stay at home Dad of 5 kids. You are amazing.
  5. The BlogFathers - this a group blog for a bunch of really cool Daddies
  6. ZeroBoss - A little bit edgier, I just like his hold no punches style!
  7. Easton of Business Blog Wire - while this is not a Daddy blog, I happen to know Easton is a WAHD and a good one at that!
  8. Ingo at Stixster -you get my vote for many reasons, but this picture is my favorite!
  9. Dawud at dmiracle - Dawud is a WAHD, too and has such a wonderful attitude and outlook on parenting.
  10. Adam at MonkatWork - Ommmm… (sorry Adam, I couldn’t help myself) I love your post on the benefits of working from home.
  11. Tony from Success from the Nest - who can resist these drawings and all of your very sensible advice
  12. Steve at Cymru66 - You must be a good Dad if you answered my call for Father’s Day ideas
  13. Steve of Babblz - afterall, he created a site for all the parents of the blogosphere - a site where we can submit posts and vote on them in true Digg style.

And, of course, my husband would be on this list, but he doesn’t blog (yet - wait until he retires). Thanks for all the great things you do for us as Moms and kids all year long!

Links for the Weekend

beachumbrella.jpgI’m out of here in a few minutes - we are off to our state competition - but I thought I would leave you all with some weekend reading. These are a few of my favorites from the week:

Friday Wrap Up

It looks like the MyBlogLog issue has resolved itself so I am happy to say I can see all your faces in the sidebar again. Yeah! I missed you.

Virginia TechIt has been an emotionally trying week for the nation as we try to come to terms with the events that have unfolded. Today is Hokie Hope day and the sun is finally shining again in Virginia. No joke. It has been gray, cold and gloomy all week and today the sun is out and it supposed to be warm. This in itself gives a sign that the healing process has begun. Add to the fact that Sunday is Earth Day - another reason to connect with the community and keep moving forward.

Here are a few posts that I have come across this week that I really enjoyed:

And some shameless self promotion! Here are some other posts from my other blogs that you might like:

Have a great weekend! Get out and enjoy the sun and celebrate the goodness that Mother Earth has given us.
