Menu Plan Monday – April 16

Menu Plan Monday

The kids are back in school today after a week of little structure, late mornings, and fun. I am happy to return to the routine and our menu plan for the week.

  • MondaySlow cooker pork chops (back by popular demand), egg noodles, and steamed veggies
  • Tuesday – Appetizer dinner for the kids – mini hot dogs, fresh veggies and fruit. I get to prepare a meal for a family of 6 at a new place in town called Dream Dinners – for free (I like free).
  • WednesdaySpaghetti cupcakes, salad and breadsticks
  • Thursday – Our Dream Dinners meal – not sure what it is yet.
  • Friday – Hamburgers on the grill, french fries or baked potatoes, green beans

I just discovered a fun new resource for recipes – Favorite Brand Name Recipes – the recipes use products from many of the brands you probably already have in your pantry. There are some pretty creative recipes on the site.

Here’s hoping you have a great week! If you are looking for more meal planning ideas, go check out the list at I’m An Organizing Junkie.

Menu Plan Monday – April 2

Menu Plan Monday

This is the kids’ last week of school before Spring Break and I can tell they are in need of a break, because I just didn’t get my normal responses when I polled everyone for their meal recommendations for the week. Something tells me that while this is my plan for the week, there is a strong probability that we won’t follow it closely – only time will tell.

  • Monday – Pizza and fresh veggies
  • Tuesday – BLT sandwiches and soup
  • Wednesday – Take out night
  • Thursday – Grilled chicken, baked potatoes and corn
  • Friday – Barbecued ribs in the crockpot, rice and a salad

Menu Plan Monday

Happy Monday! It is time to face a new week and after this weekend’s cold snap, I am ready for some warmer temps. Last week’s Pork Chops recipe recommended by Trista was a resounding hit! Then last night we got the treat of all treats – a good Irish Corned Beef, Colcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage – yum), and carrots dinner made by my Mom (who is Irish).

For anyone who is skeptical about this whole menu planning thing, it is making a world of difference in this house. It has lowered my grocery bill, reduced the number of times we may be tempted to grab fast food, my kids are eating healthier food, and we eat a much bigger variety of foods now. This week’s menu was a collaborative effort and everyone gave their input.

  • Monday – Lasagna, salad, garlic toast (this was scheduled for last week, but didn’t happen)
  • Tuesday – Ham with pineapple, mashed potatoes, broccoli, asparagus with citrus and garlic
  • Wednesday – Chili, cornbread, rice, and salad
  • Thursday - Mini meatloaves, egg noodles, green beans
  • Friday - Chicken taco cups

Here’s hoping you have a great week! If you are looking for more meal planning ideas, go check out the list at I’m An Organizing Junkie.

Menu Plan Monday

The weather was so beautiful today – we were able to take a walk without jackets! Woo hoo!! And we fired up the grill for the first time this season. Bring on the warmth.

This week looks pretty sane as hockey season is over. Here is our menu for the week:

  • Monday – Lasagne and Texas Toast
  • Tuesday – Slow cooker pork chops (Trista recommended this recipe and it was a HIT even with my super picky 8 year old)
  • Wednesday – Chicken, vegetables and pasta alfredo
  • Thursday - Waffles, sausage and fruit
  • Friday – Sloppy Joes, waffle fries, broccoli
  • Saturday – Corned beef, cabbage and potatoes in celebration of my Irish roots and St. Patrick’s Day

Here’s hoping you have a great week! If you are looking for more meal planning ideas, go check out the list at I’m An Organizing Junkie.
