Normally by this time on a Monday I have already made my to-do list and have posted both my Monday Motivation and my Menu Plan Monday posts, but not today. This past weekend was consumed by a gymnastics meet that the club I teach at was hosting (we rocked, by the way – yeah) and then this morning I helped serve a Thanksgiving Feast to more than 100 cutie-patootie Kindergartners at my kids’ school. And I now have less than two hours before I go get the kids from school and head to the gym for gymnastics practice.
Somedays you just have to lower your expectations in order to get anything accomplished. Rather than posting a huge long list of tasks I need to do, I will just pick a few that I know I can handle and then I will cut myself some slack. Afterall, as Wendy says today in her MM post, “this is why I work from home.” The flexibility is the best part.
Today I will:
- Post my Menu Plan for the week
- Catch up on some emails
- Get a few loads of laundry done
- Email my clients and wish them a Happy Thanksgiving and let them know that I will be taking a few days off
As for the rest of the week – I am going to try to get a few posts ready to automatically post later, get ready to host Thanksgiving dinner, and get caught up on a few things around the house.
How about you? What are your goals for the week? Are you mentally ready for the holidays or no? Share it in the comments, or be bold and put it on your own site for all the world to read. (Just like WAH(web)Mommy has done)

We are all creatures of habit and while it takes a few weeks for a new habit to be formed, Monday Motivation is a good one to invest in!!
Back in January I began participating in Menu Plan Monday, hosted by Laura at OrgJunkie. The first few weeks were a challenge, but once I got the hang of it, I realized that meal planning saves our family money, calories and a whole lot of stress. Now the habit is set and I feel lost if I do not have my menu planned for the week (see my current menus at my other site – Raising A Healthy Family).
A few months ago, my pal Wendy at eMoms at Home, posted her first Monday Motivation list and challenged us all to join her. Again, I am so glad I did. By laying out a plan at the beginning of the week (and posting it here to keep my self on track) has really helped me acheive some of my goals and has made me much more productive.
I know there are quite a few of my regular readers who have commented that MM is a good idea and that they should embrace it – well, what are you waiting for?? Make your plan and take it a week at a time. After a few weeks you will have a new habit and you will feel so much more productive. WAH(web)Mommy did!
Before I share this weeks’ goals, I just want to let you know that I am very proud of myself – I set my goal of no more sodas last week and I have not had a single soda since then. Yeah me!! I plan on keeping that new habit and will add something else soon.
My goals this week:
- Work on a new business model I have for one of my sites (top secret – but you will be the first to know when its ready)
- Give my inbox a good pruning (over 700 items in my inbox – surely some of them can go)
- Start a new site for a client (their current site was designed by me 4 years ago – time for something new!)
On the personal front:
- Keep up the no soda habit-in-progress
- Finish completely gutting the playroom in preparation for the upcoming holiday
- Take two bags of clothes to the local emergency thrift store
So, how about you? What will you accomplish today? This week? What good habit will you establish? Share it in the comments, or be bold and put it on your own site for all the world to read.

I am having flashbacks to summer right now! The kids are off school today and tomorrow thanks to Teacher Workdays/Election Day. While I am happy that I did not have to get everyone up at the crack of dawn and rush around until 8:15 getting all three kids to school, I am also wondering how much work I am actually going to accomplish this week.
Once I make it through Monday and Tuesday, my time will still be limited as I have meetings of some sort every day this week. I am going to have to be ultra productive during the time I am in the office, which means setting priorities.
The most important things I need to do this week are:
- Finish a web site for a client – it’s so close to being done – and schedule a meeting with her to review.
- Layout the program for our gym’s first competition of the season and get it to the printers by Wednesday.
- Redesign this site – while I love the Pink for October header that I created, it is time for something new.
On a personal front, I need to:
- Make a large crock-pot of chili and some rice for a get together Friday night.
- Drink more water. No Diet Coke or sodas for me this week as I am trying to eliminate them completely.
- Ride the stationary bike 3 times this week.
With careful planning and setting goals, you would be amazed at how much you can really get done when you think you are pressed for time! What are your goals this week? Leave them in the comments or post on your own site and let’s get it done!

The heat kicked on overnight for the first time since last spring and I so did not want to get out of bed this morning. My body is not taking kindly to the sudden drop in temperatures – last Monday it was 85 degrees outside and today it is only going to go up to 60 and it was in the 30s last night. I have a feeling that my Keurig coffee machine will be getting a serious workout today as I do everything I can not to let the lure of the warm bed draw me back in.
How do you stay motivated on days where you would just rather curl up with a good book, the warm blankets and a cup of hot cocoa?
- Make a list - Take 15 minutes to do a brain dump. Write down absolutely everything you think you need to get done. Then take a few minutes and select three of those tasks (by deadline, profitability or desire) and make them your priorities. Estimate how long each task will take and schedule the blocks of time into your day. Next, highlight 5 smaller tasks that you would like to do – if you have time and motivation left after you knock out the big three.
- Declare your intentions – Post your list on the refrigerator, on your blog, or tell a friend, and then get it done!
- Cut yourself a bit of slack – Not everyday has to be amazingly productive!
Since I am definitely facing the Monday Morning denial today, I am going to heed my own advice. I am going to share my list and by doing so, I am declaring my intentions so you can help me stay accountable, but I am also going to cut myself a bit of slack and not take on as much today as I normally would.
- Finish putting together a photo gallery on a site.
- Remove Halloween affiliate programs and replace with holiday ones.
- Post winner of Friday Giveaway #1 and follow up with sponsor.
Join Wendy (eMoms at Home) and me by getting motivatated today. What are you going to accomplish?

Have you ever heard the saying, Plan Your Work then Work Your Plan? The secret of many successful business is just that. Create a 5 year, 1 year, 6 month, 1 month or a 1 week plan for your business then start working it. Without some sort of roadmap to your destination, the chances of you reaching your goals are highly diminshed!
This technique can be adapted to so many scenarios from growing your client base, managing a large project, tackling a home improvement project or even reaching your weight loss goal.
By breaking down larger tasks into smaller steps, identifying intermediary goals, and holding yourself accountable along the way, you’d be surprised at all you can accomplish.
Rather than follow Wendy’s Monday Motivation lead and posting my to-do list for today, I am going to be posting weekly goals instead. My Monday’s are just too chopped up to be overly productive – but they are perfect for knocking out a lot of little tasks.
My goals for this week are:
- For my business:
- Research and begin implementing some new affiliate programs on my sites in preparation for the upcoming shopping season.
- Update my income spreadsheet and identify areas of growth and areas for improvement.
- For myself:
- Increase my water intake and lower my sugar intake
- Start brainstorming Christmas gift ideas so I can start picking up things as I see them rather than waiting to the last minute
How about you? Do you have a plan? What steps will you take today or this week to start working towards that goal?
