The school bus just pulled away and I am ready for another week. Oh how I love Mondays! And you can, too.
I am joining Wendy from eMoms at Home in putting my to-do list or weekly goals out there for the whole world to read. It’s easy. Grab a scratch piece of paper, open a new page in MS Word, a page in your planner or an index card and jot down a few things you want to accomplish today and a few things you think might take a little longer. Then leave a comment here, at eMoms at Home, or post them at your site and hold yourself accountable.
MY GOALS TODAY:
- Do a set of site updates for a client
- Get my Menu Plan Monday and Blog Action Day post up at Raising a Healthy Family. I already finished my Blog Action Day post at Essential Keystrokes. The one at Raising a Healthy Family will be on going green with kids.
- Get my youngest signed up for swimming - I figure since she has asked about it every single day for the past three weeks, she’s serious.
- Wade through my inbox to catch any loose ends
MY GOALS FOR THE WEEK:
- Finish two sites for clients
- Walk or ride the bike at least 3 times for 30-60 min. each time
- File the stack of envelopes on my desk
Yes, I know my goals for the week this week are the same as last weeks. There are two reasons for this. One, the exercise goals are ongoing and I’m not ready to increase them yet. Second, I didn’t get that stack of envelopes completely filed.
If I get it all done, then I will treat myself to a morning out on Friday to have coffee with my two best pals or to go shopping for myself. This was my treat last week, but I didn’t get all my work done and I had something else come up, too so this week I will treat myself - hopefully…

So, it is Monday and I have another week of endless possibilities ahead of me. I am joining Wendy from eMoms at Home in putting my to-do list or weekly goals out there for the whole world to read.
Even though the kids are home from school today, I am still hopeful I will get a lot accomplished - I really need to because I am going to chaperone a 4th grade field trip tomorrow and will be out of the office all day.
MY GOALS TODAY:
- Customize a WordPress template for a client
- Write a product review
- Finish my invoicing
MY GOALS FOR THE WEEK:
- Finish two sites for clients
- Walk or ride the bike at least 3 times for 30-60 min. each time
- File the stack of envelopes on my desk
So, what happens if I don’t get this all done? I am going to take the positive route this week. If I get it all done, then I will treat myself to a morning out on Friday to have coffee with my two best pals or to go shopping for myself. Now that is motivating!
What motivates you on Mondays? Is it the fact that you now have a clean slate for the week or is it something else? Do you work better under pressure or at your own pace? Is it easier for you to get things done if you have a reward waiting for you or if you have a penalty imposed?
How can you participate? Either list your to-do list/goals in the comments of this post or Wendy’s (her’s usually goes up midday) or create a post at your own site. Put your list out there and hold yourself accountable.
PS - If you are looking for my Menu Plan Monday post I have moved it to one of my other sites. You can see it at Raising a Healthy Family now.

Say what? Who loves Mondays? Oh, that would be me. Mondays signal the beginning of a new week of opportunity and the return to routine.
Just a few notes as I kick off another great week!
- Did you know that today marks the official one year anniversary of this particular site? Time flies when you are having fun! Scroll back through my archives to check out some early posts that you may not have read before.
- I have moved my Menu Plan Monday posts. I’m still participating, but they are being posted at Raising a Healthy Family - a new site I started in August.
- In place of MPM, I will be participating in eMoms at Home’s Monday Motivation series. With bigger blocks of time to work now that the kids are back in school, it is time for me to hold myself more accountable for being productive.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and in support of Pink for October, Casual Keystrokes will be getting a new pink look. Look for it to appear some time this week. WordPress master Brian Gardner and Charity of Design Adaptations are also going pink - how about you?
- I will be announcing my next giveaway tomorrow and it goes very well with the Pink for October theme. Be sure to stop back in for updates.
Monday Motivation
I am making an official declaration! These are the things I want to accomplish today in order to jump start my week:
- Put two new affiliate progams into place
- Visit 5 new blogs and leave comments
- Make updates to 3 client sites
- Spend time working on 2 client projects
- Work on Pink for October theme for this site
The way that Monday Motivation works is that once you declare your intentions, you have to either come up with reward or a punishment (whatever works for you) to hold yourself accountable to getting it done. I need to complete this to-do list by bedtime tonight or I face the ultimate torture - no coffee for the week (it works well for Wendy, too!)
Feel free to take this theme back to your own site and post your Monday to-do list there, or share your to-do list in the comments. Either way, set some goals and let’s get rockin’!
By the way, have you subscribed to the Casual Keystrokes yet (feedreader or in your email)? My goal is to double my RSS subscribers this month!

After a very busy, social weekend, I feel like I am just playing catch up today. Normally I get ready for the week ahead on Sunday evenings, but we were celebrating 4th of July with family and friends until way in to the evening. Then I had to teach at the gym this morning so I am just now really getting things knocked off my to-do list.
Normally I do a Menu Plan Monday post, but we have so many leftovers from the weekend, I am just going to point my crew in the direction of the fridge and say “good luck” if they tell me they are hungry.
And I thought about getting motivated and joining in on the Monday Motivation post at eMoms at Home, but my list is too long and I don’t know if I can hold myself to any sort of leverage today. I think I am just going to work until I drop - whatever doesn’t get done tonight will have no choice but to wait until tomorrow.
The blogging birthday bash at my other blog, Essential Keystrokes, was a hit and I just posted the list of winners. Now it’s time for me to enter a contest! The ladies at Pinks and Blues Girls Blog have another fantastic set of prizes to give away. I love the Vera Bradley bag and since I am such a purse girl, how could I pass it up? Plus, there is a Coconut Body Butter from The Body Shoppe to go with it - one of my favorite scents.
Here’s hoping that the rest of the week can be relatively quiet and I can get caught up!

Summer officially starts this week and I still am not entirely prepared for the months ahead. I have found that having a plan is really the best defense, so I am going to continue my weekly Monday Motivation post along with Wendy at eMoms at Home.
My kids and I talked last night about how Mom can not do all the chores alone and we came up with a plan. Each day there are three jobs that have to be done - empty the dishwasher, empty all trash cans and collect dirty laundry, and swish and wipedown the main bathroom. Each week one of three kids will be assigned one of the jobs. They will rotate each week. Even if they can help with these three tasks, it really helps me out.
Now, this week I need to:
- Finish invoicing clients
- Update client sites
- Get all my info into QuickBooks
- Exercise each day
If I can’t make consistent progress in all areas I will have to ground myself from blogging and even miss Liz’s Open Comment Night.
What is on your to-do list this week? Share it at your site (you can use Wendy’s cool graphic) or leave it in the comments.
