Whatcha’ Listening To Today?

Apple iTunesWhenever I need a little lift in energy, mood or attitude, there are certain songs that will do it everytime.

Most days I listen to Virgin Radio through my iTunes player - Friday afternoons are best, because they play a lot of dance music from a variety of eras. I like listening to the various DJs and it gives me my Europe fix for the day.

And then there are days when I commondere my daughter’s  iPod and jam out to teeny-bopper pop. It all depends on the mood!

So what are you listening to this afternoon? What are your favorite songs to work by?

Right now my playlist includes:

  • Ruby by the Kaiser Chiefs
  • Let Me Entertain You by Robbie Williams
  • L.O.V.E by Ashlee Williams
  • Jellyhead by Crush
  • Real Gone by Sheryl Crow
  • A Little Less Conversation by Elvis

Yes, I know, they are a little bit of everything! Diversity is good and there are so many songs I just love!

Let’s Write A Song - Second Verse

THE (LOST) FRIENDObviously everyone is having fun with the Let’s Write A Song post I made earlier this month - as of today it is the most popular post. It looks as if we have the first verse done so let’s not leave it at that!

Let’s review. We are helping the band THE (LOST) FRIEND write a song - one line at a time. If you need more background read Let’s Write A Song (the first post).

So far we have:

I never thought this could happen (Ingo)

Was it in my destiny? (Me )

I’ve traveled over oceans and deserts of desire (Michelle )

Now I’m drowning from your sand in my mouth (Nutmeg )

We can never go back to the box (Leah )

So I’m finally ready to stand my ground (Geekwif )

Not a blogger, just a jogger, treadin water (Lisa)

What comes next? The chorus? Another line? Only you know the answer! Leave me a comment with the next line and I’ll add it here.

I hear a whisper of love and a whisper of hate (Ingo)

Coming from the thoughts that I create  (Michelle )

And I can’t help but wonder if this is my fate.  (Nutmeg )

Let’s Write A Song

THE (LOST) FRIENDI never expected to be part of the creation of a song, but my law-practicing, drumstick-wielding, German pal Ingo of Amanita Muscaria, does this all the time as part of the band THE (LOST) FRIEND.

He is getting ready to start writing again and needs our help! The blogosphere is going to write this next one - one line at a time, one blogger at a time.

Ingo’s instructions:

Whenever a line is added please drop a note to amanita.muscaria-at-o2online-dot-de so I can stay in touch with the results on your blog and see who got involved in the songwriting.

Having a rock song in mind this is the first line of the first verse:

“I never thought this could happen”

I have to add the next line:

“Was it in my destiny”

Take it away Michelle! And anyone else who would like to contribute.

UPDATE:

So, the song writing task is taking place in the comments and I will update it here as we go along. Everyone is invited to participate! Here is what we have so far:

I never thought this could happen

Was it in my destiny?

I’ve traveled over oceans and deserts of desire

Now I’m drowning from your sand in my mouth

We can never go back to the box

So I’m finally ready to stand my ground.

My Take On American Idol

Now I know I am probably in the minority on this one, but personally, I think American Idol has gone DOWNHILL over the past few seasons.

I watched the show last night - the one on the auditions from Seattle and was really turned off by the whole thing. There was no happy medium and I guess that is what the network wanted. The showed some auditions with potential - like 16 year old Jordan (I thought she did great), but the majority of the show was freaks. I apologize if I offend anyone, but do these people need to be on TV? I felt extremely sorry for BigRed and the hairdresser who thought he looked like Taylor Hicks.

Now, I know these extremes are what get the ratings, but common sense says that if you can’t carry on a conversation, or carry a tune, you shouldn’t be on a show like this. Don’t these people have a Mother, friend, or associate that will tell them the truth before they embarrass themselves on National Television? What are your thoughts on this season’s edition of American Idol? Am I missing something?

Workout Music - What’s On Your iPod?

On Monday nights I have one hour where I have to be at the gym waiting for my daughter to finish workout after I finish teaching.  I have decided to start walking on the treadmill at the back of the gym while I wait. I grabbed my daughter’s iPod and found some fun upbeat songs to walk to.  Here are some of my favorites:

A little teeny-bopperish? Maybe? But it gets your heart pumping and makes the time go by faster. Do you have any suggestions for songs to add for next week’s workout? What are your favorites?
