It looks like the MyBlogLog issue has resolved itself so I am happy to say I can see all your faces in the sidebar again. Yeah! I missed you.
It has been an emotionally trying week for the nation as we try to come to terms with the events that have unfolded. Today is Hokie Hope day and the sun is finally shining again in Virginia. No joke. It has been gray, cold and gloomy all week and today the sun is out and it supposed to be warm. This in itself gives a sign that the healing process has begun. Add to the fact that Sunday is Earth Day – another reason to connect with the community and keep moving forward.
Here are a few posts that I have come across this week that I really enjoyed:
And some shameless self promotion! Here are some other posts from my other blogs that you might like:
Have a great weekend! Get out and enjoy the sun and celebrate the goodness that Mother Earth has given us.

I was going to use this picture for my Wordless Wednesday post, but I couldn’t leave it wordless. Anyone who has been reading this site for any length of time is at least a bit familiar with the antics of my five year old drama queen. In true Miss N fashion, she threw me for a loop again today.

She has this pair of Old Navy, wedge, hot pink flip flops. I bought them last summer and the two have been close friends ever since. No joke. These are the most favored pair of shoes in the house. They are too small, they are beyond dirty, and have seen their better days.
I was at Target today and found a cute pair of wedge flip flops with a bit of pink sparkle and Hello Kitty. They have a cork like heel – just like big sister’s. I knew she’d like them.
In an effort to utilize the one in, one out method, I convinced her to retire the old pair – to the garbage.
About 10 minutes later I hear this sobbing coming from the other room. I asked her what was wrong, and she said she missed her old shoes and wanted them back. We talked for a few minutes and it grew apparent to me that this was a truly traumatic thing in her mind. There is a connection between her and the shoes. Obviously I wasn’t seeing them for what they really are – part of the family.
So, what would any good Mom do? I hauled them out of the trash. And now they will just have to magically disappear on their own at an undisclosed date in the near future.

I knew I was tempting fate when we decided to have a third child. Afterall, boy #1 was (and continues to be) as mellow as can be. Girl #2, is slightly more high-maintenance, but has a high tolerance for pain, blood, guts and dirt. Enter girl #3 – a bonafide drama queen!
Miss N was the perfect baby. She was quiet. She slept a lot. And she could entertain herself very well. Those days are long gone! As a five year old, who is preparing to start kindergarten in the fall, Miss N is testing my every last resolve as a Mom – on a daily basis.
Don’t get me wrong, I absolutely adore my little princess. She is the one who loves to snuggle, draws me creative pictures, and is always singing a sweet tune.
However, I was not prepared for the book throwing incident at school last week. You know the one where she decides she is not going to share and hurls the book across the classroom then screams at everyone in the classroom?
How about the incident in the doctor’s office this morning, where she screamed at the nurse taking her “finger blood”? That was the longest 90 minutes of my life. She was so stressed about this appointment and literally had to be pinned down to give her the required immunizations.
Luckily, no permanent damage was done. We stopped at Toys ‘r Us and she spent her birthday gift card on the new Barbie Fairytopia movie. She came home, put on her fairy wings, tiara, popped in the movie and all was right again in her little world.
I will really miss her company during the mornings next year, but on the other hand, I have a big party planned for the first day of school.
