Preparing For “Mom, I’m Bored”

Yes, I know the kids are going to be getting plenty of sugar, presents and free time over the next two weeks, but I am also betting I will hear, “Mom, I’m Bored” multiple times a day. I am making a list of ways to combat this - I’d love your ideas too. Submit them to me and I’ll add them to the list along with some link love.

• Printables For Kids - shameless plug for me, but this site is loaded with fun, creative, printable activities for kids of all ages. All the printables are original creations of mine, inspired by my kids.
• Free Holiday Ideas - Katelyn has everything from crafts to recipes and everything in between. You can get some good ideas here.
• Mom, I’m Bored - (see, I’m not the only one with this problem!) has compiled a nice list of Christmas craft sites.
• Create a family scrapbook
• Have a family game night
• Build a virtual snowman or Ben & Jerry’s style (or the real thing if you have the snow)
• From Eliza - try VisitMyTree for some fun

Puzzling

I love puzzles. All puzzles. From my earliest memories, I have been doing puzzles. I have fond memories of doing jigsaw puzzles (especially the circular candy one) with my best friend as a child. The daily crossword puzzle was always a group project at the dinner table when I was growing up and my Mom taught me the secrets to word searches early on.

Now I am a mom and a business owner. My kids and their friends are always asking me to print things out for them to do. They love it when I make word searches out of the names of their classmates. I decided to combine my love of puzzles with my ability to design web sites. I created the web site Printables4Kids to give kids, teachers, and moms more opportunities to print original puzzles.

When we were recently in Europe, I couldn’t wait to get to the airport and pick up my copy of Puzzler magazine.  I am also looking forward to winter so I can get my jigsaw puzzle out for the kids and me to do.
