I love purses. I change them out by the season and sometimes more often than that. A while back my good pal V-grrrl introduced me to Kipling bags. V is from the States but is currently living in Belgium and has acquired quite the taste for Kipling bags.
When I recently helped V’s friend Di with getting her website up and running I told her she could just pay me in Kipling (purses that is). She thought I was joking - no I was serious. I don’t know if you can even get Kipling bags in the US and certainly not in my small little town, so they are special.
So she and V-grrrl went on a shopping trip and found me two cute Kipling bags to add some fun to my handbag wardrobe.
The first one is the Fairfax from the Moccachina line. It’s chocolate brown and white so it will go with anything, year round. It has lots of pockets and compartments - making it a perfect choice for a mom on the go.

The second one is from the Basic Line and is called Diane. My daughter already has her eye on this pale lavender bag. Sorry - it’s mine! It has a front pocket that fits my Treo phone perfectly! And its trademark monkey keychain is named Dorothy - too cute.

So, thanks V-grrrl and Di! You made great choices - I love them both! Oh, and the chocolate truffles - YUMMY!

We have seen the new run of Visa commercials that show the whole flow of a busy cafeteria coming to a stop when someone chooses to pay with cash and just this morning I saw a news clip about a Washington, DC cafe, called Snap, that no longer accepts cash. Is this the beginning of the end for cash? Personally, I rarely have cash on me and maybe write 1-2 checks a month. Everything else is done via my debit card or a credit card.
According to Snap’s owner, the plastic only policy means more security in the store (less risk of robbery), easier balancing at the end of the day, and no more daily trips to the bank to make deposits. Makes perfect sense to me. But is it legal? There is nothing in the US legal system that says it isn’t.
However, what about those who don’t have plastic whether by choice or not? Cash leaves no paper trail for its users, either. Where does it leave them?
It is getting more and more difficult to function in today’s society without some form of plastic, whether it be a debit or credit card. According to the American Banking Association, more than 53% of US consumers use debit and credit cards for the majority of their purchases - and that was a number from 2003/2004 - you know that has gone up.
What do you think? Is doing business via cash becoming extinct or will cash always be king?

I am making a vow to myself that I will not let Christmas sneak up on me this year and send me into a frenzy of hurried, last minute events. I am taking baby steps this year. I put my wreath on the door the day after Thanksgiving, bought scented pinecones yesterday for the hearth, dusted off the big, ornamental train for the hearth today, and I plan to keep this up for the rest of the week when I plan on putting up the tree Friday afternoon.
The same goes for Christmas shopping. I have made my lists and am off to a good start just by picking up a few things here and there, taking advantage of special offers and coupons as they come my way, and eBay.
Next I need to plan my food menus for Christmas Day. I am hosting it this year and rather than go with a huge sit down deal, I will do my favorite appetizers and desserts. My goal is to get the ingredients purchased and start making what I can ahead of time to avoid that last minute rush.
So, with best intentions and a good plan, I hope to make this Christmas season a little less stressful than the last.

It’s Monday, Cyber Monday that is. Shoppers are returning to their offices (and for many their high speed internet access), kids are returning to school (did I hear an applause from all the moms) and it is beginning to feel a bit like Christmas. Today is expected to be the busiest on-line shopping day of the season and it is my kind of day!
I’m not one to fight crowds, stand in line or get all worked up about the must have toys. Me, I like the ease and comfort of shopping from my office - a mouse in one hand and a cup of coffee in the other. The deals have been coming into my inbox from all my favorites, courting me and my Visa, luring me to their sites with great bargains and offers of free shipping - ahhh, technology - I love it!
So, I will share with you some deals that I have found and intend on taking advantage of (some of these are affiliate links and some are not):
- My daughter needs some items to go with her room decor - Bombay Kids has a $20 off $100 code (WBWRM6AZ)
- Amazon
always has great deals on the hottest toys, gifts, and such, not to mention FREE SHIPPING.
- Etoys is advertising 60% off deals for Cyber Monday.
- Coldwater Creek has a $25 off $100 deal going now (code is FROSTY)
- If you have little ones, don’t forget Personalized Letters from Santa
I’ll add more deals as I find them, but in the meantime, Happy Shopping!

I have never been one to face the Black Friday shopping frenzy head on and this year will be no different. If there are some great deals to be had, I am more likely to log on to my trusty computer, coffee in one hand and a mouse in the other and do my shopping that way.
I know that some people love the rush and thrill of Black Friday shopping, but I am just not into crowds. After hearing the stories of lines, violence and heartbreak over the release of PS3, TMX Elmo and others, I am just not doing it. There is nothing on my holiday gift list that will sell out on Friday and if it does, then no big deal.
This post is part of a Blog Carnival that is being hosted by Holiday Mom on Friday. Check it out and see what everyone else thinks of Black Friday!
