One of my favorite parts of the Christmas season is decorating the tree - I just love the ornaments - but this year I relinquished some control and boy, was it hard to do!

Many of you have already met Jake, the cat we rescued 7 years ago when we brought him home from the shelter, eye infection and all. Yesterday we got a call from the neighbor saying that they had found Jake in their yard, curled up and peaceful. Jake had passed away and was in kitty heaven. My girls were crushed, after all, Jake was their best pal. Jake played on the swings with them, let them tote him around, and was the friendliest cat ever.
And while there is definitely an air of sadness, Jake was loved and had a really good kitty life - at least after we rescued him.
