If you read my post on Friday, you would know I spent the day shopping yesterday with two of my closest friends. The weather was rainy, cold, windy and just nasty, but we didn’t care. We were on a mission, a mission we set out on 3 times a year - to find that perfect something.Â
Every fall for the past few years (okay maybe five years), I have set out to find a great pair of boots to wear with jeans or long skirts. And every fall I have come up empty handed. Boots are typically not cheap and if I am going to part with $100 or more, they are going to have to be some boots! I have looked high and low. I have said no to so many potential pairs of boots, it’s not funny. My 8 year old daughter says I’m too picky. It had become a joke between my daughters and my good friends, because I always say I am going to buy a pair of boots and end up walking out of the store empty handed. Until yesterday.
I found the perfect boots! And, I bought them. They are a rich chocolate brown leather and suede mix. Simple, but just enough detail to add interest. Not too dressy, not too casual. Not too young looking, a little bit sassy, and nothing an old lady would wear. The heel is a tad bit higher than I had originally planned on, but looked perfect with my favorite jeans. I even took a picture of them for you!
The day was deemed a success after our first store, not only because I bought some kick-a$$ boots, but because “J” was convinced that a hot pair of deep red Anne Klein pumps were a better bet than the boring black ones. That is the fun of shopping with “A” - having spent all but the past 12 years of her life in Europe, she just has a sense of style about her and she is so good about getting us all to go beyond our comfort zones.
We shopped and shopped, then poured our weary legs back into the car and headed back to our own little neck of the woods for dinner. We opted for Indian as “A” and I really wanted Chicken Korma. It was so awesome and really hit the spot.
I can’t wait for January when we get to do this again in honor of “A”s birthday. I treasure these 3-time-a-year days with my friends, the memories are so wonderful!
