In September, my mother’s side of the family met in Cork, Ireland to help my Grandparents celebrate their 60th Wedding Anniversary. Our family is spread out all over the world, so this was a once in a lifetime opportunity to get everyone together. We had perfect attendance for four generations!

We stayed at Oysterhaven Centre, a sailing, windsurfing and recreation center, that has self-catering cottages that make travelling with 3 kids a snap. Each cottage sleeps 7 easily. There is a large courtyard and grassy lawn area joining the cottages, which made it very easy for everyone to get caught up on the years while the kids all played.
Each family took their own unique day trips to destinations like Blarney Castle, Fota Animal Park, The Jameson Distillery, Kinsale, Clonakilty, Garrettstown Beach, Cobh, and more. In the evening we all got together for dinner and more social time.

On the Sunday, Oysterhaven helped us host a reception for my Grandparents in their stunning garden courtyard. It was wonderful! We had about 100 people from all over come help us celebrate. My mom took my Grandparent’s wedding photo down to the florist and had them recreate the bouquet - what a nice touch. The cake was a traditional English wedding cake - fruit cake with royal icing, and the caterer had prepared a variety of other yummy treats for us to snack on all day.
I absolutely love the southern coast of Ireland and look forward to going back again. Stay tuned for future Friday posts as I will share more pictures from the Ireland trip and other cool places we have been.

Now I have to go to Ireland. My list of destinations to visit before leaving Europe is growing…
Amazing to have ALL your family together. We haven’t accomplished that in my family in the last 20 years!

Oh I wish I lived there, hey, I do … how lucky am I!
Next time head further up the coast towards Sligo/Leitrim/Mayo where I live … heavenly.
[…] I have Irish roots and a recent trip to Ireland has made me want this dress even more. We have the American Girl Irish Dancing dress and it is fun, but this dress is oh, so elegant looking. I guess the big question is, can I wait and order it as a Christmas gift or do I just have to have this dress now? Considering it is on sale right now, my willpower is waning. […]
