This cartoon made me giggle - and then think! How many of my readers are old enough to remember:
- Life before cell phones - can you believe we left the house and no one could track us down?
- Life before email - yes, you actually had to pick up a pen, write a letter, and WAIT for it to arrive at its destination.
- Life before eBay - oh yeah, you had garage sales or gave hand-me-downs to your neighbor.
- Life before social networking - I think that was called a block party, Tupperware party, or Bridge night.
What else is relatively new and now we can’t imagine life without? Could you live without the Internet (of course, we can, but would we want to)?

In the early 80´s we only had 3 TV channels here in Germany. They broadcasted a test screen around midnight because they had “Sendeschluss”.

how about before everyone started having computers in their homes? I know we read books, played outside and wrote letters.
what about before dvd players were placed inside vans and other cars? haha, entertain the kids ourselves by playing ABC games outside the car.

Technology is wonderful, but our kids just don’t know how hard we had it (ha ha)!

Not only do I remember when there were only three TV channels, I remember when you had to turn the TV on a few minutes before the scheduled program so it could warm up. Remember the little blue dot in the center of the screen that grew to become the picture? Sheesh.
And to make everyone really think I’m old, I can tell you that I remember when the first hand-held blowdryers came out, the first hot curlers, Bic pens, disposable diapers, disposable razors and self-adhesive sanitary pads. GAH! We’ve come a long way, baby.

V - you are not THAT old! I remember watching The Wizard of Oz on the 13″ black and white TV - we were the last family I knew to get a VCR, cable or the likes. And I remember when the channels went to snow.
