It’s Friday and I’d like to start my Casual Fridays series. Bring your cup of coffee and let’s talk. Bring a story, a tip, a link, a question, a joke - whatever you want to talk about. It’ll be a bit like Liz’s Open Comment Night, but at a much more leisurely pace. Stop in anytime - I’ll be checking in pretty frequently, too.
I love Fridays almost as much as I love Mondays - the weekend stands before us like an blank sheet with endless possibilities. This weekend is even better - a full three days of no plans. How about you? Big plans or a low key weekend?
What does Memorial Day weekend mean for you? While we do take time to remember all of those who sacrificed their lives for our freedom, Memorial Day also signals the un-official start of summer.
So, let’s talk!

Good Morning! Happy Friday
I’m excited because my two kiddos are going camping with their uncle for the ENTIRE weekend.
We’ve set up our pool and will be getting the pool water delivered today or tomorrow - so I’ll be floating in the pool with pina coladas and lovin life big this weekend.
What about you?

Gayla - I am so jealous! I want a pool in the worst way.
Anyhow, I am planning something really exciting (not) - I am giving the house a full blown spring cleaning this weekend. It will take me all three days - guaranteed.
The girls and I may sneak out for a bit and go shopping for summer clothes but that’s the extent of it.
The pool we got was an Intex pool. It’s the above ground cheapy kind.
We got it on sale for $549. It’s 12×24 and is 4 ft deep. Plenty big enough for me to float in LOL
I’ll probably do some cleaning this weekend too. Like it or not.
My house is like the dust bunny hilton for sure.

If your house is the dust bunny Hilton - mine is the Taj Mahal for dust bunnies.
That kind of pool would work for me - the only problem is we have so many trees, I’d be cleaning leaves out of it all day.

Ugh! Spring Cleaning? I’ve got to hand it to you Char. I’m impressed with anyone who can do that much cleaning at once. I’m just trying to get through the day and keep my son entertained. We may have to get out and go to the big downtown library. They have a great play area. Hey I’ve got a link for ya- my sister took Gayla’s advice and launched a health blog. I designed a funny header for it. She’s going to join MomGadget forum soon too.
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 2:23 pm
Randa - I hate cleaning but I know we are expecting company in June so I have to do it while I have the time.
What a fun header on the health blog! We’ll look forward to meeting her.
Have fun at the library. My big kids are still in school but my youngest is done. I knew she would be bored today so we invited her friend over for the day.

haha, you think ya’ll are jealous. I’m jealous ,we are only allowed waist high pools on the base. Nothing big.
I want a REAL pool! The only way I get to use a real pool is if I go to the community pool and that just ain’t happening.
Homemom3 wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 2:31 pm
I just saw the ending of your post Char, remember I”m also having the Memorial day blog carnival at my blog. So all those entries you put on your blog can easily get a few more clicks by sending them my way.
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 2:34 pm
Homemom3 - I hear ya on the community pool thing. Our neighbors have a pool and they have told us we can use it, we just might have to this year.
Post the link to your carnival in your comment and we can send some your way.
YEAH Randa! I’m so excited. What a GREAT Niche! Tell your sister I’m so proud of her.
I’ve got a zillion errands to run — get the kids ready to go camping AND just between us girls, I had to get my rings resized because my fingers are getting chubby
They called and they’re ready for pickup. Getting old just sux ya know it?
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Have fun running errands Gayla! And yes, getting old is just no fun.
Yeah, we figured it’s a problem EVERYONE has dealt with or will deal with, or their kids will deal with. Lots of stuff to write about.
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 3:11 pm
I have to run out for a little while too - keep the comments coming! I’ll check in this afternoon.
It’s so nice to meet you. I am Randa Clay’s sister.
Happy HOT Friday to you. I’m planning on planting some flowers in our front yard this weekend along with doing some hiking with my husband and 9 month old little girl.
Have a relaxing weekend!

Randa- yes a subject we can all relate with. Ikkk!
Char- I’m here and noticed that your timer has GOT to be off. lol. It isn’t even 2 here yet and it says past 3 on your last entry. Course not sure where the server is.

We don’t observed Memorial Day here but my weekend is always a time where my boy gets more attention. I love to spend a little more time in the shops but DH is never too excited about that. We promise to take Clayton to the playground and oh, his school shuts for 2 weeks after today.. we are wondering how to deal with him staying at home all afternoons for 2 whole weeks
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 6:13 pm
Hi Laura - welcome. Best wishes with your new blog. You’ll be surprised how much fun it can be.
HomeMom3 - Yeah, I need to go in and change the time to match up with the time here. It is 2:15 pm right now.
Doris - I plan on doing some shopping later this weekend if I get all my spring cleaning done - how is that for a reward? As for having Clayton home, be sure to check out mine and Wendy’s posts on the topic.

Happy Friday ladies!!
This weekend we’re not doing much. My stepson moved out so I’m reconverting his room to an office/playroom….very excited about that! We’re also going to do some shopping and barbecue on Sunday.
I’m fighting a headcold so hopefully there will be some rest in there somewhere.
Don’t get me started on dust bunnies!
Laura–I’m a new blogger too! It definitely gets addicting!!

Welcome Courtney~I love your Thursday Thirteen post this week. I have two girls (and a boy) and it is a lot of fun. Only one of my daughters likes Barbie, but they both love American Girl dolls. Lots of tea parties for us.
Courtney wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 8:17 pm
Thanks Char! I can’t wait for more of those. My oldest is 2 1/2 and my youngest is 11 weeks….so I know there will be lots of them in our future.
Homemom3 wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 9:55 pm
Okay movie talk now….Anyone see Children of Men? I just rented it but wondered. Yes I know it isn’t a kid’s movie, got them Flicka again.
They (and I) love that movie.
Char wrote @ May 25th, 2007 at 10:07 pm
Homemom3 - I haven’t seen either of those. Let me know how it is. I’m not much of a movie watcher but I’d like to take the kids to see Shrek 3
Homemom3 wrote @ May 26th, 2007 at 3:16 am
I’ve been wondering about Shrek 3, I loved the first one, wasn’t to excited about the second. But I think I’ll love 3 just as well as the others. I hear Shrek has babies…well not him but you know. I wouldn’t say that part but if you got kids and take them for kid meals you already know.
By the way the post (blog carnival is up) http://homemom3.blogspot.com/2007/05/memorial-day-blog-carnival.html
