Let’s Write A Song

THE (LOST) FRIENDI never expected to be part of the creation of a song, but my law-practicing, drumstick-wielding, German pal Ingo of Amanita Muscaria, does this all the time as part of the band THE (LOST) FRIEND.

He is getting ready to start writing again and needs our help! The blogosphere is going to write this next one - one line at a time, one blogger at a time.

Ingo’s instructions:

Whenever a line is added please drop a note to amanita.muscaria-at-o2online-dot-de so I can stay in touch with the results on your blog and see who got involved in the songwriting.

Having a rock song in mind this is the first line of the first verse:

“I never thought this could happen”

I have to add the next line:

“Was it in my destiny”

Take it away Michelle! And anyone else who would like to contribute.

UPDATE:

So, the song writing task is taking place in the comments and I will update it here as we go along. Everyone is invited to participate! Here is what we have so far:

I never thought this could happen

Was it in my destiny?

I’ve traveled over oceans and deserts of desire

Now I’m drowning from your sand in my mouth

We can never go back to the box

So I’m finally ready to stand my ground.

Hell of a line, Char! Thanks!

How about “I”ve traveled over oceans and deserts of desire?”

Not to be confused with desserts of course.

And here’s a question: I thought lyrics were written after the melody? How do I know if I’m doing it right?

Ingo - you are the pro - can you answer Michelle’s question?

Michelle:
Thanks. You did it right since there is no “wrong” in music. This time we start with the lyrics and see what kind of music/melody will fit the mood. Maybe we will do some editing if really necessary. And yes: I smell Grammy, too!!

Thanks for adding to it Nutmeg!

Cool - I am not sure if I am doing this right. How about

“We can never go back to the box”

the box would be the sandbox of our youth. You can never take the mommy out of the rocker.

Leah - there is no wrong answer - I’m adding you to the song.

Well I’m curious how this little beauty’s going to turn out. Hope I didn’t cause you too much work on this Char but it’s fun to have it all in one spot.

Followed Michelle’s link over here. What a great idea. My contribution (if you’re still taking them)…

So I’m finally ready to stand my ground.

  Char wrote @ March 19th, 2007 at 12:48 am

Yep, we are still taking them! I’ll add yours to the mix.

Anyone is welcome to add to the song by leaving their line in the comments.

Amazing stuff. This is actual proof that sometimes the collective indiviual minds can do great things. I can never come up withe the lyrics on my own that’s for sure :)
