Menu Plan Monday - March 19

Menu Plan Monday

Happy Monday! It is time to face a new week and after this weekend’s cold snap, I am ready for some warmer temps. Last week’s Pork Chops recipe recommended by Trista was a resounding hit! Then last night we got the treat of all treats - a good Irish Corned Beef, Colcannon (mashed potatoes and cabbage - yum), and carrots dinner made by my Mom (who is Irish).

For anyone who is skeptical about this whole menu planning thing, it is making a world of difference in this house. It has lowered my grocery bill, reduced the number of times we may be tempted to grab fast food, my kids are eating healthier food, and we eat a much bigger variety of foods now. This week’s menu was a collaborative effort and everyone gave their input.

  • Monday - Lasagna, salad, garlic toast (this was scheduled for last week, but didn’t happen)
  • Tuesday - Ham with pineapple, mashed potatoes, broccoli, asparagus with citrus and garlic
  • Wednesday - Chili, cornbread, rice, and salad
  • Thursday - Mini meatloaves, egg noodles, green beans
  • Friday - Chicken taco cups

Here’s hoping you have a great week! If you are looking for more meal planning ideas, go check out the list at I’m An Organizing Junkie.

Anne - thanks. I am not a good cook at all, but having a menu and following recipes helps. My family helps plan the menu every week. That is the only way I can keep the picky eaters happy. Thanks for stopping in.

Yes, I lov e Menu Plan Monday. After a couple of months, I can just rotate the menus and have a yearly plan……however, for me I like to be spontaneous, and love trying new recipes so I allow for that, too.

Very good looking menu this week. I could go for a bowl of chili right now. It’s so cold here!!

Carrie - it was really cold here yesterday and I think that is why my son asked for Chili this week.

I’m having fun watching Paula Deen cook Macaroni and Cheese, in a crockpot. It’s totally lethal with butter, plenty of cheese and eggs.
You have a terrific week!

Yum, mini meat loaves! I agree that menu planning saves time and SO much money! I love it and really miss it when I don’t make the effort.

Have a great week!

Blessings!~

I wish I had half of your discipline char. I HATE to cook. Well, not totally as I am good at cooking SOME things.

I would love to know how you map out your day, when you get up, when you shut the computer down, and how you manage your time.

PLEASE post your agenda, will ya? If you have already done this PLEASE have mercy on me and let me know where I can find it!!

Angela - cooking ranks right up there with laundry and housecleaning as one of my top 3 things I’d rather NOT do on any given day. I have learned to use Menu Plan Monday as a way of dealing with the fact that I don’t like cooking. By getting input from the whole family and having a plan, I can handle the whole task more sanely. Plus, my girls enjoy helping out and that is great quality time. I also don’t have to listen to what’s for dinner a million times a day - I just point to the list on the fridge.

I’m not sure you really want my daily agenda. You’ll understand why I am such a crazy woman half the time and why my house won’t pass a white glove test.

Maybe I’ll post it later this week… or not? I’ll think about it.

Menu Monday sounds like a great idea! I might have to try it. There is just the two of us, and has been for a long time, it kind of gets to be a grab your own thing after a bit., cause he doesn’t like what i like and vis a versa
