I am a firm believer in sharing what you know and everyone wins. Aaron Potts of Today is That Day wants everyone to share their secrets of success by participating in a meme called Simply Successful Secrets.
I was tagged by Carolyn Manning at Thoughts & Philosophies to share my secrets. And while I feel that the best is yet to come for me, I consider myself to be pretty successful in life - I have a husband, three kids, a house on the perfect lot, live in quiet neighborhood on the fringe of suburbia, and have the benefit of working from home, for myself. So, while my life is not perfect, I must be doing something right.
Here are the things I do daily that contribute to my success:
1. Constant Quest for Knowledge. I love to learn something new and try to do so everyday. Knowledge is power and the more I know, the better decisions I can make along the way. I am amazed at how much I learn every day through reading blogs, researching topics, and tackling new challenges.
2. Can Do Attitude. If I really want to do something, I can usually find a way. I am the consummate optimist - always looking on the bright side and looking for creative ways to accomplish what needs to be done. Sometimes this comes back to bite me - since I don’t always think these can-do ideas all the way through, but for the most part, it has served me well.
3. I’m Not Afraid To Go Against The Norm. I’m not sure why, but I have always seemed to take my own path. Just because everyone else is doing it, does not mean that is the best option for me. Plus, it often makes for good conversation.
4. Good Manners. By treating others with respect and using simple, good manners with everyone I meet, I have opened many doors for myself throughout the years and helped me retain a very strong base of clients in my business.
So, what are your secrets? I am going to tag a handful of bloggers, however, feel free to take this one over to your own blog and run with it! Just be sure to let everyone know that Aaron started it, and that I continued it. Your blog will thank you.

Having the attitude that the best is yet to come is probably one of the biggest keys to success, Char. To me, it’s the mindset that opens the doors for things to continuously change and grow.

Thanks again for tagging me for this one - it was a good exercise in reflection.

Ooh, Char - I *like* this one! I usually don’t jump on meme-wagons… but this one is a really good exercise in reflection and mentoring.

I agree Jeri - this one is well worth doing. Let me know when yours is up so I can read it.
Char,
I LOVE your list! I agree 100% with all 4 of your items, and you are the first so far to list at least one or two of them.
Someone else said that a day when nothing was learned was a wasted day. I don’t know that I would go so far as to call any day wasted, but I do agree that learning is something that should be done until the grave.
Thank you so much for participating! I’ve still got a lot of people submitting entries, and I will post the totals on my site after all of the success secrets are in. It will be a list worth reading, to be sure.
p.s. - Gayla from MomGadget and I are friends who lost track of each other over the years, but were reunited via you participating in this meme. How cool is THAT??
Char wrote @ March 16th, 2007 at 6:41 pm
Aaron - that is very cool that you and Gayla were able to reconnect. I love the power of technology when mixed with community!
I am looking forward to reading more of the entries.

Hey Char - I finished my meme post. It turned out a lot longer than I initially planned, sometimes my blogs get away from me.
And, to really mix stuff up, I tagged a R&D technologist, a pr consultant, a new lit fic journal author, a SAHM/church volunteer, and a fairly active SF author, all of whom are very successful in their own worlds.

Hey Char, this is a great meme! I’d like to do it if time permits but next week is spring break and I’m taking the week off…after MPM of course so will have to see.
Have a great weekend!
