Personally, I like Mondays. Why? Because the whole crew goes back to school and the house is mine again. Well, apparently, Monday is not so popular with the rest of my family. Let’s just recount an incident that took place in my office 45 minutes ago.
I woke up my oldest child, 10 year old boy, and down the steps he came, into my office and in a good mood. A good sign I thought. So we start talking and he asks, “What are we doing today?” My response was, “Going to the gym,” because I teach Monday nights and my daughter has workout then, too.
“What else Mom?” was the next question. “What else? You are going to school. It’s Monday,” was my response. And it was like the floodgates opened. The poor child started crying. I kid you not.
Our kids were off school Friday and we went bowling with friends. Saturday we had all our normal activities - hockey practice for him, gymnastics for the girls, Lego Mindstorms class for him, and he even went to a Halloween party with a friend. Sunday we lounged around, did some clean up, the kids played on the computer and we watched the football game.
His next question was, “Where did the weekend go? I didn’t get everything done.”
I guess he thinks he needs a day to recover from his weekend. Ever have one of those weekends?
