Many of you have already met Jake, the cat we rescued 7 years ago when we brought him home from the shelter, eye infection and all. Yesterday we got a call from the neighbor saying that they had found Jake in their yard, curled up and peaceful. Jake had passed away and was in kitty heaven. My girls were crushed, after all, Jake was their best pal. Jake played on the swings with them, let them tote him around, and was the friendliest cat ever.
And while there is definitely an air of sadness, Jake was loved and had a really good kitty life - at least after we rescued him.

Thanks everyone. Jake was a pretty cool cat.
I’m so sorry!
I’m so sorry to hear that. We lost our curmudgeonly old rescued cat last spring, and it’s still hard to not have him around. We did resuce another kitty this summer, though, and he is now happily living up in North Idaho with my dad. (I mention this because he also had an eye infection and is blind in one eye.) Thomas has picked up where Jack left off!

I´m so sorry. But I wish a happy thanksgiving to you. Spend a beautiful day with your family.
Poor little kitty- looks like a sweet boy. Always hate to see them go, but I guess that’s just part of having a pet. I’m always glad when they meet a peaceful end and don’t suffer.
